Bank Robber recognized the guard with a gun as a threat and shoots at guard. Hardcore Armed Robbers do not value life, they do not care about you or jailed. If they cared, why would they take a risk to rob a store or bank. They are not as smart as lot of people here claims.

Guessing a lot of people here live-in low crime areas not high crime inner city. The criminals are different now.

When they rob a store, they are ready to kill. Not sure where you live but, in my area, they will kill you deader than dead. Many stores like the one below places their weapons in view as a warning to would be robbers (note I work in a soda shop in my younger days, we were well armed with weapons in plain view). This store was known to be armed due to the neighborhood.

In my hood they do not care if the business has open carry people or not, they are more worried about the conceal weapons.

Which is why shooting ranges and gun stores are daily targets of robberies...

Same for National Guard armories, police stations, and gun manufacturers.

It is a far stretched to use Police Stations and National Guard Armories in your logic. There are some criminals dumb enough to rob a gun stores and pawn shops. You need to just adjust your logic a little bit, just a little.
