“First mistake: Setting foot in Walmart for anything.”
GREAT POINT!!!
what a polite society!
Show us the examples.
It hasn't happened.
Criminals don't want a gun fight. Most don't want to commit a murder during a robbery.
They fantasize about everything going just right, quick and easy.
They see an armed person, and they pick another target.
> It would shock you how many people tried to yank the gun out of my holster to play “Stick ‘em up”. <
Interesting. I have never open-carried. But if I did, I’d always be worried about someone nearby possibly grabbing my gun: Why is that kid over there staring at my gun? That constant concern would not help to make my day pleasant.
And over time, maybe without any incidents I’d get nonchalant, and careless. Again, not a good thing.
Unlike urban and suburban California.
I went to the bank at the height of COVID wearing sunglasses and a hat carrying concealed....they asked me to put my mask on.....
Up is down and down is up.....😂
It is closer to Christianity.
Some people get upset with people openly showing they are Christians. They don't like it and say they are intimidated.
If you don't exercise your rights, you lose them.
I open carry every day as well as many others here in the Basin. I guess we all have our reasons but I can only give mine. Texas gets damn hot during the summer making carrying a weapon concealed almost impossible unless it’s a very small pistol. I do have a couple of pocket pistols but with those there’s no guarantee you can clear it quick enough. Trying to get a pistol out of the front pocket with a pair of jeans on can get tricky. If it’s small enough to fit in the pocket, it’s small enough to move out of position. I’ve got a SIG 365 but it’s just to damn big for a pocket unless you’re wearing cargo shorts or pant’s and I wear neither. Some like to carry on the belt and just let the short cover it up. The chances of finding me without my shirt tail tucked in is next to impossible. The biggest reason I guess come from my military and law enforcement past. I don’t want anything in between me and my weapon. Trying to quickly clear a weapon from clothing can get you in trouble and it usually involves your off hand. The last thing I want is to tie up both hands trying to clear a weapon, that off hand is too important if we’re talking close quarters. Multiple video’s on youtube show folks struggling to clear their weapons from under t-shirts or any clothing covering the weapon.
In many cases it’s pretty easy to tell if a person is carrying concealed, it’s damn hard not to print a decent size weapon and close to impossible to conceal a full framed one. So I just carry openly and don’t take the risk. I know a lot of people will say carrying open is just begging to be the first one to get shot should a criminal decide to rob a facility you’re in. My experience in law enforcement argues just the opposite, criminals are invariable cowards by nature. So I’ll continue to carry openly and you can call me an idiot if you chose.
One thing I might add for those considering carrying openly is carry in a retention holster, I carry a SIG 226 in a leather thumb break.
“Concealed carry is for idiots. The last thing I want to look like is an easy mark/soft target for criminals.”
Two schools of thought, I reckon.
Old martial arts quote I picked up somewhere along the way:
“Weapons should be felt, not seen”
It's just something gun owners do. You see it constantly: "If it ain't a [fill in the blank], it ain't worth spit!", or "If it's made out of [fill in the blank], dump it in a recycle bin somewhere and get yourself a REAL gun!"
All gun owners have opinions; some of them are actually based on education or experience, but relatively few are what I might call 'universally applicable'...
;^)
“Open carrying is for idiots.”
Sometimes it’s the only option, you idiot.

I love my 226, and 229. SIG grips fit my hand like the Lord Himself made them for me. If you don't mind me asking, what make holster do you use?
Weird how people looking to rob a store will go to places where people ARE NOT ARMED rather than engaging in a gun battle.
Stop watching Heat.
If I want to ambush someone in war-time, sure. I want to look as weak and unthreatening as I can until it’s time to unleash hell.
Doesn’t work so good as a deterrent to common criminals though. It also desensitizes the populace and makes them think that open carrying of arms is “icky” or “shameful”.
Past due time to correct that.
Also, this is not a binary equation. My original post was meant to illustrate the idiocy of the other posters blanket statement by reversing the logic.
Carry as you see fit. Open or Concealed. It is YOUR RIGHT to do so either way. Exercise it or it will be TAKEN from you.
“Stop watching Heat.”
What is Heat?
O have an OWB locking holster for my glock 19. It is what I hike with so the gun has a better chance of staying in the holster if I slide down a hill. Usually still have a old aloha shirt cover garment over it.
If I open carried that is the holster I would use. Yes I do carry +1 and I do practice dry fire drawing from the holster before using it.
Do you have any proof to back up your statements.
Talk is cheap facts cost.
99 percent of the people one encounters, when open carrying never even notice.
If everyone carries concealed, nobody will know there are even Gun owners in our midst. So why then, not just ban all guns if nobody is carrying?
See the logic?
I OC all of the time and have never had an issue, only positive experiences. Criminals are looking for an easy mark, not someone who is armed and knows how to use it.
Show me a story where this happened.
A real story from a news site.
It doesn’t happen. It is made up nonsense.
