MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin Assembly passed a resolution Tuesday calling for a convention of the states to consider making changes to the U.S. Constitution, an effort backed by Republicans and opposed by Democrats.

The full Legislature in 2017 passed a resolution that allowed for calling a convention to consider a balanced budget amendment. The latest proposal, which passed 58-36 and now goes to the Senate, is more expansive.

It allows for the convention to consider three things: imposing fiscal restraints on the federal government; limiting the federal government’s powers and jurisdiction; and imposing term limits for members of Congress and other federal officials.

This is a bad idea. The left will put a USSR type government and there will be nothing to stop it.

based upon the “elections” of 2020...it appears as though we may already be there anyway

I agree this is a terrible idea. The Uniparty and counter culture would have complete control. The Republican wing of the Uniparty would do their customary bi+ching and complaining as they sold us down the river. I prefer the Uniparty (R)’s current method of selling us and the constitution down the river incrementally.

I wish republicans cared about the debt and the deficit when they are in power too - not just when they are the opposition party.

One word…RINO’S.

If the GOP does what it should, punts Lizzie into the cheap seats and then follows that with more purges, like Romney, Toomey, Kingzinger and the most worthless Cocaine Mitch the Turtle perhaps then the CONSERVATIVE’S in the new GOP can focus on leading America out of the abyss the RINO’S have dropped us into. (One can dream, right?)

Really?

Tell me how many state legislatures are there and how many would it take among them to stop a "USSR type government"?

The GOP has too many gutless cowards and the traitorous Demonicrats would take over a constitutional convention.

While attractive on it’s surface, the ConCon genie won’t willingly go back into it’s bottle once released. This unique opportunity for politicians to “Tweak” the U.S. Constitution under the guise of “It’s all for the public good!”, brings down the final curtain on our Constitutional Republic. Our “Statesmen” have proven to be completely unreliable guardians of democracy, and will ruin America to ostensibly save it from itself.

No mention of election integrity or denying courts the excuses of lack of standing, laches and mootness to avoid hearing election complaints? Without honest elections, we don’t have a Republic. There is no point considering anything else first if the systemic election fraud isn’t addressed first.

Uh, you understand that the authority of delegates to a COS will be limited to whatever is in their state commissions, right?

RINO was the alternative course. Republican Is Not an Option. GOP, swamp, Uniparty, all the same. When given an opportunity to work for the constitution and American people, they support the coup to destroy MAGA. When given an opportunity to represent us at a convention in our present fascist reality, what do you think would happen? We would have codification of the results of their treachery to date. The price of draining the swamp will be the death of the GOP. That price would also be its greatest benefit. We need a real second party.

If you fear a COS will:

Ban conservatives and President Trump from social media.
Rig future federal elections in favor of the rats.
Declare homosexuality, transgenderism, and fag marriage a 14th Amendment right.
Eradicate the internal combustion engine by 2035.
Sell out the US to the Chicoms.
Federalize child care, K-12 and local zoning.
Force Critical Race Theory throughout the national government, military, public schools and universities.
Equate patriots with domestic terrorists.
Open our borders.
Inflate our currency into worthlessness.
Use FISA warrants to continue spying on President Trump, Rudy Giulliani and any other opponent.
Equate Christianity with hate speech.

Then by all means, stand against the states that are strengthening the 2A, passing statutes to combat Obamunism and can truly represent their people in the face of accelerating tyranny.

Dumb idea. A new Constitution would eliminate the 1st and 2nd Amendments and give near total power to the central government. We don’t HAVE a freedom-loving, God-fearing country any more!

If many courts don’t pay attention the one we have now, what would a new one gain us?

Two authorities on this subject:

Mark Levin who thinks it is a dandy idea to open up the Constitution in the middle of this hot mess we are in.

And Antonin Scalia who said shortly before he died about the thought of having a Constitutional convention, "Not in this century."

The Constitution was written by people who knew history and natural law. Those credentials are severely lacking today. Any attempt to open it up would create a frenzy for destruction that not even the best Republicans we have would not be able to stop it.

That makes me feel so much more at ease. What would we have done without all those Republican state houses and all those Republican electoral college patriots who manned up to stop the coup? I’ve seen constitutional work done in countries ran by fascists before. You don’t learn very quickly, do you?
