The treatment of Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., by her fellow House Republican leaders and colleagues "simply for having a contrary opinion" on former President Donald Trump is appalling, and late President Ronald Reagan would never have approved, presidential historian Craig Shirley wrote in a new opinion piece.
"Cheney's only crime of course is her belief that the GOP needs to wash its hands of Donald Trump," Shirley, a biographer for late President Ronald Reagan, wrote for Townhall. "Otherwise, she's a tried and true conservative. And our movement is big enough to accommodate personal opinions.

I find Presidential Historians to be generally Leftwing and about as impressive as Fauci.
‘tried and true’ ?
right.
‘tried and true’ ?
right.
Now they invoke Reagan after speaking ill of Trump for 5 years.
Well, except for the fact she was actively undermining him whe he was President. This guy needs to shut up.
Jimmy Carter speaks to me through a rubber doorstop. He says, "Believe it or not, I'm actually not dead yet, so leave me out of this."
I disapproved of Reagan’s amnesty. So I guess we’re even.
It’s not just a contrary opinion. The idiot voted to impeach Trump.
Why do I believe this? Well, suppose it's true. It's going to be announced in about 2 weeks. After what Lizard Cheney said about Trump's claims of election fraud being "The Big Lie" she would be absolute kryptonite to the Republicans in the 2022 primary season if they don't get out in front of this and throw her overboard.
.........I think it was Reagan who said something like “never speak ill of a fellow GOP representative or Senator”.
If I’m right, Craig Shirley is wrong because no one demeans her/his colleagues in a more consistently vituperative way than Liz Cheney.
A contrary opinion is one thing. I doubt everyone on this board will agree with everyone else on any one topic. But having a secret as well as open hostile intent to sabotage someone is quite another. And that’s the thing this author fails to understand.
Not if Ronald Reagan had been the GOP candidate in 2020.
Reagan would have been disgusted at how President Trump was treated and especially dismayed at how some members in his own party treated him.
For she sowed the wind, and she shall reap the whirlwind.
The Eleventh Commandment was a phrase used by President Ronald Reagan during his 1966 campaign for Governor of California. The Commandment reads: Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican.
Nuff said.
I wonder if it has ever occurred to the author that Reagan would have disapproved of cheney’s treatment of President Trump.
Reagan would have first disapproved of Cheney and her treatment of President Trump. He would have also disapproved of her collaborating with former SecDefs and the press for the purpose of damaging President Trump.
As badly as President Reagan was treated by the Marxist Left, he never had to deal with Globalist Elite Backstabbing Traitors Like Cheney, McCain and Romney the way President Trump had to.
Reagan DID learn about Backstabbing Traitor Democrats and rejected them for the rest of his life in a delightful manner.
President Reagan would delightfully reject supporting any of the RINO Traitors.
The problem now is that the GOP establishment stands for nothing.
