LONDON — In England, it’s going to be time to hug again.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to give the go-ahead for that much-missed human contact when he announces the next round of lockdown easing later Monday in the wake of a sharp fall in new coronavirus infections.
The U.K. is now recording around 2,000 new coronavirus cases a day, compared with a daily peak of nearly 70,000 in January. Daily deaths have also plummeted with only two recorded on Sunday.

‘chocolate rations go up’
“Thank Big Brother, citizen! The ration will go up from 30g per week to 25g!”
Will the chocolate rations go up also???

The chocolate ration will be increased from 15 grams to 12 grams.
LOL! You got the chocolate ration joke in first
Who needs to be told its ok to hug?
I’ve never seen brits hug. Stiff upper lip and all that.
You’re right. The only time I have to hug is family in the US, Canada & France - and irritatingly some English acquaintances. But not English family.
Do people understand reality? This is insanity. COVID isn’t the problem and has never been. Government is the problem and will always be.
But you both had metric measures there. Still in ounces for most people.
The WWII ration for chocolate/sweets/candy was 12oz (or 340g) per month - which ended 1953-02-04.
Sex was never in short supply or demand - apparently.
We shouldn’t be surprise with the British government’s control-freak behavior. The Brits were still war rationing meat and cheese until mid 1954, 10 years after the WW II ended.
Despicable.
This is what happened when Carrie Symonds is your Prime Minister.
“I love Big Brother.”
From the article: NWO insanity. Europe of our ancestors is gone. Typical NWO geek, not sounding at all like a true Brit, quoted:
Gurch Randhawa, a professor of diversity in public health at the University of Bedfordshire, is one who’s wary, and cautioned about potential mixed messaging coming from the government.
“It is no doubt tempting to relax social distancing, offer the glimmer of a much needed hug, and lift restrictions on international travel, but this could be a big mistake at this stage of the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.
