COVID-19 U.S. death toll as high as 905,000, worldwide is double official estimates, study claims

The worldwide COVID death toll is more than double the official count of 3.24 million, a controversial new study estimates, the U.S. is no exception.

More than 905,000 people have died of COVID-19 in the U.S., 57% more than the official tally, researchers at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington said Thursday in a new analysis. That’s more than any other country.

The official U.S. toll is about 580,000, according to Johns Hopkins University statistics.

Worldwide the total is close to 7 million, which is more than double the official toll of 3.24 million, as recorded by Johns Hopkins University.

Looking at excess mortality between March 2020 through May 3, 2021, the researchers compared that to what would normally happen in a year without a pandemic, then made allowances for ancillary pandemic-related factors. They were left with, they said, numbers reflecting solely deaths from SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

I do not believe it. The toll is already inflated by orders of magnitude as it is arrived at by adding those dying “with” not “of.”

Does this mean we don’t need the extinction event to lower world population?

Divide that number by half and then subtract the coefficient of the mass of the sun and you’ll most likely have the true number; maybe.

If logging as Covid related deaths to auto accidents, shootings , drug overdose and cancer or heart failure then the figures may be correct.

Don’t go with the high estimate.

They didn’t count H1N1 cases or deaths. They stopped COUNTING in 2009 and moved on to estimating through 2009 and 2010 (and now just call it FLU).

With H1N1 they settled on the MIDDLE figure between HIGH wild assed guess and LOW wild assed guess.

Just classify all deaths as CCP bioweapon deaths.

Easy, peasey.

So, we have a high Covid death toll but amazingly low flu infections and deaths in 2020 and 2021?

I need a scientific explanation for this.

“... a controversial new study...”

...gets the soapbox nevertheless, because it will get clicks.

I read a story the other days which was saying that the US government requires that among the categories of deaths recorded, one is a lumped total for “PIC.” All deaths attributed to Pneumonia, Influenza and Covids19 are recorded as “PIC,” and that is what we see for Wuhan virus deaths. Can that be verified as so???

Let me guess, are they admitting Governor Cuodos of New York likely killed more people than actually reported?

Numbers are NOT friends of the media.

Which, of course, is why they could only be journalism majors. Barbie dolls, journalism studies majors say “math is hard”.

Access to the NY Daily News is banned from Europe, but I’m calling BS on this.

The only sensible measurement is annual “excess deaths” against a 5-year moving average. In the UK that figure is just a 7% increase in 2020, against the 2015-2019 average.

2021 is looking like there may be fewer overall annual deaths than expected, even with COVID. That’s going to take some explaining if we do not get our total freedoms back come mid-June.

CDC is saying 790,654 deaths for covid-19, influenza and pneumonia. So if 100,000 people were overlooked and not included in the official tally, that's where you get the 900,000 estimated deaths.

So, we have a high Covid death toll but amazingly low flu infections and deaths in 2020 and 2021?

Due to social distancing and other steps we took to "flatten the curve" so to speak, the flu basically went away.

From the original report:

“ Excess mortality is influenced by six drivers of all-cause mortality that relate to the pandemic and the social distancing mandates that came with the pandemic. These six drivers are: a) the total COVID-19 death rate, that is, all deaths directly related to COVID-19 infection; b) the increase in mortality due to needed health care being delayed or deferred during the pandemic; c) the increase in mortality due to increases in mental health disorders including depression, increased alcohol use, and increased opioid use; d) the reduction in mortality due to decreases in injuries because of general reductions in mobility associated with social distancing mandates; e) the reductions in mortality due to reduced transmission of other viruses, most notably influenza, respiratory syncytial virus, and measles; and f) the reductions in mortality due to some chronic conditions, such as cardiovascular disease and chronic respiratory disease, that occur when frail individuals who would have died from these conditions died earlier from COVID-19 instead. To correctly estimate the total COVID-19 mortality, we need to take into account all six of these drivers of change in mortality that have happened since the onset of the pandemic.”

As you can see, they include deaths due to the lockdown as WuFlu deaths.

My observations are - no more people have been sick or died in the last year and a half than previously. Just me though. There must be a lot of people I am missing. I remember seeing people falling in the street in China. Unless - well nevermind.

People on the ground in India say the real death toll is 25,000-30,000 per day during the second wave.

I think the US deaths were overinflated but Russia/Brazil/Mexico and most other countries are understated.
