The bodies of hundreds of New Yorkers are still sitting in a refrigerated morgue on the Brooklyn waterfront more than a year after the COVID-19 pandemic hit the Big Apple.
The remains of about 750 people are in long-term storage in the specially designed disaster morgue that opened in April, a medical official told a City Council committee meeting on Wednesday.

Who the hell does this kind of thing. I have heard of psycho serial killers storing bodies in freezers, but this is over the top sickening. These people have names, families for God’s sake. Cremate if they must, but memorialize by giving their names.

Yeah, some details are missing at the very least.
IIRC, there were hysterical, arm-waving articles last summer about mass graves being used on Hart Island (NYC's "Potter's Field"). I assume that these corpses would've been buried there long ago if they were unidentified, unclaimed or next-of-kin was unknown.
The likelihood is then, that the corpses in the mobile morgue *were* identified... but apparently remain unclaimed. New Yorkers are apparently willing to let the state bury their dead family members in numbered graves, as long as it's free.
These souls now have eternal life as Democrat voters, not only in New York, but also in Georgia, Wisconsin, Arizona, Virginia, and ever swing state.
