Breitbart ^ | 05/06/2021 | Katherine Rodriguez

Floridians who receive unemployment benefits will soon have to show proof they are job-hunting, according to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

DeSantis took away the requirement that people on benefits look for work early in the pandemic when unemployment was on the rise and few employers were hiring.

Biased headline reminiscent of one I remember from my yout:

Ford's message was plain. He didn't want to hurt New Yorkers, but the federal government bailing them out would bind the government to bail out any and all financially misgoverned (democrat) cities.

As their covid unemployment checks are direct deposited.

That’s the life. Who would work if they had that?

It’s not just the extended state benefits, are there not federal bonus benefits as well, on top of state benefits?

That’s correct, it’s the combination of the two. Combined it works out to about $17 an hour to sit home so people won’t come back to work. I’m in Fort Walton Beach and most fast food places only have the drive through open, they don’t have enough workers to open the inside dining room. Other places will have shortened hours like 11-7, one eight hour shift because they don’t have workers to do two shifts.

We’re just starting the tourist season so it’s going to be bad if something isn’t done.

A very small business owner buddy of mine here in Jax advertised a position for $15 an hour last week. Guy showed up for the interview and demanded $25, a company phone and paid vacation. He said that was what he would make it worth it to get off unemployment. Position is still not filled.

Florida top unemployment is IMO 275 per. When 600 more by feds is added in it equals 875. That equals more than 40k. Fortunately i hear the fed is ending soon. Until recently there was no requirement to look for work so mu guess is this clown was doing just that I e looking for work to fulfill a requirement to do so. While 15 per hour works out to 30k I have no sympathy for one who thinks I should pay him more so he can sit home.

DeSantis is a "Trumper's Trump", that's for sure.

And he's only 42 years old.

Perfect scenario would be a Trump/DeSantis ticket in 2024 and then DeSantis on top of the ticket in 2028 and 2032.

I suggested in a tweet to Maryland’s governor that he cancel all unemployment bonus payments and institute a 60 day moratorium on state income taxes for all new hires.

Media have figured out Trump and they were able to beat him. They haven’t been able to do that with DeSantis yet.

Once there were trips to the line at the welfare office (quaint old time days). Then the printed envelope in the mail box with a check to actually carry to the bank and deposit it or else cash it at the liquor store.

Now I have a new idea to be accomplished while lying on the couch. Instead of picking up the smart phone to touch the number for the bank account activity and balance, ask something aloud such as "Alexa, is my government deposit in my account yet?"

In Indiana you have to at least apply for jobs every so often to maintain the charade that you are looking for work. A local restaurant that just opened said they had 80 online applications and 2 people showed up to interview.

The secretary at our local food stamp office finally realized the clients got more sitting on their butts than she did working full time and quit.
