Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to Unemployed: Start Looking for a Job

Floridians who receive unemployment benefits will soon have to show proof they are job-hunting, according to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

DeSantis took away the requirement that people on benefits look for work early in the pandemic when unemployment was on the rise and few employers were hiring.

DeSantis should also ask all Fla employers who have recalled laid off workers to notify the State they have done so. Any who refuse to return for any reason should immediately stop receiving unemployment benefits.

Several years ago, conservative mayor in NYC enacted policies that persons drawing unemployment had to physically check-in to an unemployment office every week. The number drawing unemployment dropped dramatically because many of the ‘unemployed’ had jobs and could not take time off to comply.

I live in Tampa, and every where you go there are “HIRING SIGNS.” Anyone wanting to work in Florida can find a job.
