If Sweden had an equivalent to the American newsite Politico, this is the sort of report they would produce.
The implication being, if any dare say the violence is directly due to the lax immigration laws, then ‘obviously’ that person must be anti-immigration, a most Un-Swedish/undesirable kind of person.

Yeah. Are these articles really worth reading anymore? Not news by a long shot...not even to the point of who’s the vic and whose the perp. I didn;t read the article and I am here saying, with 99% surety that the vics were blond hair (Curtain matching the drapes) and the perps were black hairs with bad breath! Yes, in this case reported to the pollster, because these numbers are from a survey of the general population. Though, crime statistics folks tend to use the word reported to refer to crimes reported to the police which is usually less than the number in victim surveys like this. Generally, these victim survey are much more accurate that police stats for the obvious reason (failure to report) and also even after crimes are reported, police in many places don't record all the reports.
My point: the increase in reports may not be attributable to an increase in actual rapes.
There are just counted via different processes.
That would be a valid point if we were talking about what is generally called “reported” crimes, which term is generally used to refer to crimes reported to police. There can be many reasons for fluctuations in reported crimes other than changes in the number of occurrences of crimes.
That’s the reason they do victim surveys: to count crimes whether reported to the police or not. It’s possible that people may lie when contacted for the survey and say they were not a victim of a crime when they actually were, but that’s a very different potential effect than people deciding not to report a crime to the police.
Victim surveys are generally considered to be the best gauge of the actual level of crimes.

This is a concept about data collection and analysis, and is not specific to crime data. You are wrapped around the axle on the term “reported.”
