Former Sen. Bill Nelson was confirmed unanimously by the U.S. Senate Thursday to lead NASA during a critical time as the U.S. Space Agency’s new administrator.

Nelson, 78, went before the Senate last week and answered questions about his vision for NASA as it prepares to send astronauts back to the moon. Comments from both sides of the isle were very agreeable and he was expected to be confirmed.

On Thursday, it became official Nelson was confirmed by unanimous consent becoming NASA’s new leader.

It’s been less than two months since President Joe Biden officially nominated the Brevard County native to lead the space agency after weeks of speculation he planned to tap the former Democratic senator for the role.

Nelson was first elected to U.S. Congress in 1986, and during his time as a representative of Florida, he became the first member of the House to go to space.

Nelson flew onboard Space Shuttle Columbia’s STS-61 mission in 1986. If confirmed he will be the third NASA administrator to have achieved spaceflight.

Former Sen. Bill Nelson was confirmed unanimously by the U.S. Senate

That's because the GOPe knows that Nelson is the perfect scumbag to finish the job of converting NASA from a SCIENCE agency to a PROPAGANDA agency.

Why, was AOC, a well-known scientist, unwilling to take the job?

My senator for far too many years.

Mine too.

And he was my representative in the House before that. Actually, when he was in the House he was pro-life and wasn't bad. When he ran for the Senate the Democrats must have told him in no uncertain terms that he HAD to be pro-abortion, so he switched. I've had no respect for him since.

Nobody over 50 years old should be leading NASA.

They should be about the future, not the past.

Deep State doesn’t have a deep bench.

It has a collection of dunce chairs.

And likes it that way.

Nelson won’t be calling the shots any more than the rest of the front office types do.

They’re there so folks don’t look behind the curtain

I had a summer job during my college years as a proofreader for a small town newspaper, long before word processing spell check tools came along. An editorial by the editor contained the word “spicket.” I quietly asked him if he meant “spigot” instead? He was a little huffy about it but later came and thanked me for saving him from ridicule had it published. Even editors sometimes need proofreaders. It is even more important when the error is another real word like isle.
