The Cato Institute 2021 Immigration and Identity National Survey, a new national survey of 2,600 U.S. adults, finds that nearly three‐fourths (72%) of Americans believe immigrants come to the United States to “find jobs and improve their lives” while 27% think immigrants come to obtain government services and welfare.
Support for More Immigration Is on the Rise
Support for more immigration has tripled from the mid‐1990s when about 10% of the public supported more immigration and two‐thirds wanted less. Today 29% of Americans want more, 38% want to maintain current levels, and 33% want less.
Democrats’ views largely account for this shift. Starting around 2008–2010, Democratic support for more immigration rose from about 20% to 47% today.
70% of Democrats Say Racist Beliefs Drive Desire for Less Immigration
Seventy percent (70%) of Democrats say racist beliefs drive the desire for less immigration. In contrast 57% of all Americans, as well as 60% of independents and 88% of Republicans say a sincere interest in controlling the country’s borders is the reason.
91% of Americans Welcome Immigration to the U.S., 9% Want to Shut Down the Border

And bank robbers rob banks because that’s where the money is.
What’s yer point?
Someone actually spent money to figure that out?
Polls like this are to move public opinion, not measure it.
Agreed. And regardless of why somebody wants to come to the US, they still need to be vetted at the border.
CATO is a NWO/globalist group.
No thanks.
Polls are worthless, used to change people’s minds, not gauge them.
So what if they do?
We have too many already.
Close the door and leave it closed until everybody speaks English. And only English.
They will improve their lives all right. With our money that the government takes from us and gives to them so they will vote democrat.
BS! article
We can always take over their countries. call them protectorates.
Probably true.
They’re still illegal.
Do 72% say we owe them that? And if so why?
Fine.
But how does that make illegal immigration a good thing when legal immigration is already more than high enough? It doesn’t.
That may be true for true immigrants. But illegal aliens are not immigrants. By original definition an immigrant is one who is in the iS legally.
The illegal alien is here simply to receive the massive welfare benefits they receive and which are free - no work required.
and that is a FACT!!!
And next week, Steve Moore and CATO will tell us that Chairman Xi is coming here to improve his family fortune by including all of us in his family!
Happy Happy Joy Joy
We’re all one beeg happy global family, right?
Uh...right
Support for more immigration has tripled from the mid‐1990s when about 10% of the public supported more immigration and two‐thirds wanted less. Today 29% of Americans want more, 38% want to maintain current levels, and 33% want less......given the fact that there are more immigrants in the country, who are being polled, of course the want more. They want to take over, as they do whenever their numbers get big enough.
91% of Americans Welcome Immigration to the U.S., 9% Want to Shut Down the Border.......based on the election results of 2016 and 2020, I’d have to say that those numbers are demonstrably FALSE.
I think that one of the biggest issues that propelled Donald Trump in 2016 and what got him 16,000,000 more votes in 2020, was his stance and actions he took on immigration, visas and refugees.
One of the things I find funny about this is how white Democrats and liberals look at the issue, IMHO. When the immigrants/refugees first come, they are used as pawns by the Left to get the desired results come election time. Once the immigrants establish a foothold, get their numbers up and start getting elected, they then use the white Liberals as pawns to get what they want. Genius.
Might have been true 30 years ago
AND they lie about OTHER THINGS TOO!!
