Washington solidifies goal to end sale of new gas-powered cars by 2030
A bill to promote hydrogen-powered vehicles is now a state law.
“Giving residents more access to purchase greener vehicles is one more way we can work together to lower greenhouse gas impacts across the state,” Gov. Inslee said, as he signed the bill.
Senator Brad Hawkins sponsored the bill, SB 5000, which creates an eight-year statewide pilot project for the reduction of sales tax on purchases of fuel-cell electric vehicles.
“It’s had a long journey through five different committees, but it’s definitely generated a great deal of conversation throughout the process, and hydrogen as an issue has gained a lot of support,” he said.
Hawkins’ hydrogen vehicle legislation had bipartisan support and nearly 30 co-sponsors. It passed the Senate 49-0 in March and the House of Representatives 93-4 on April 10.

Hydrogen. Takes more power to isolate, capture, transport, and store then it produces recting back in to dihydrogen monoxide.
everything
I just watched the 1930 Hells Angels last night
The zeppelin scenes were awesome
The Hindenburg was originally made to use helium gas. It was filled with highly flammable hydrogen owing to export restrictions by the United States against Nazi Germany.
It’s been thirty years since I’ve seen it
Factoid: helium has about 88% of the lifting power of hydrogen.

That may be, however, it wouldn’t have caught on fire with helium. 8>)
We have needlessly wasted so much Helium that it will soon be extremely expensive
...and the exhortation of “Hiel Hitler” would not have had the same audible impact.
The second law of thermodynamics is hard to work around. It cannot be repealed by executive order, nor even by unanimous vote of Washington legislature.
It is actually hard to conceptualize. Most people do not understand it. Especially the legislators.
Entropy of the insulated system never decreases!
Whatever you do, you are loosing energy. Since we are making Hydrogen, we need to add energy and the energy content of the product will be less of what we have started from.
So the Hydrogen fuel-cell is like the battery, it stores some of the energy delivered to make hydrogen and it is able to return some of it.
And as I understand it, when you release Helium into the atmosphere, it's a one way trip into space. Wasted=lost.
Thanks to the pandemic. 8>p
I did my thesis on hydrogen buses in 1992 at Berkeley
“All of that was created by millions of brilliant minds.”
Excellent post. Thank you.
Mr. E. Doheny was the wealthiest man in America in 1915, easily, and discovered oil in many places. He said it is easy to strike a fountain of oil but difficult to catch it. The first thing he did was pave streets.
Good news. Oil is a natural renewable substance. New oil fields are discovered every year. Why? Because God provides, big time.
Hydrogen cars : silly
Boron cars : safe and inexpensive.
That's a big part of the grid failure in TX in Feb. and coming soon to everywhere else.
Toyota is already selling the Mirai in California. There aren’t many places to gas up but they do exist.
Hyzon Motors is the American spinoff of Singapore’s Horizon Fuel Cell group. Horizon has been in business for about 15 years. The Saudis and some other Gulf countries are looking at hydrogen as their future in supplying energy.
All true. But the main problem with solar is that you can't store it and use the energy later without an expensive battery. Hydrogen is one type of expensive battery.
With enough subsidies, anything is possible.
Since Hydrogen is generally made out of carbohydrates, it would keep the oil industry going, I guess.
Basically wasting a lot of potential energy stored in fossil fuels. Striping the evil carbon and its energy content out of the carbohydrates.
BEYOND STUPID!!! What could go wrong?? Democrats RUIN EVERYTHING THEY TOUCH!
