After years of very warm April months, this year's Easter month was the coolest since 1980. In addition, there was unusually frequent frost - but the cool days did not mean a lack of sun.
April has not been as cold as this year for 40 years.
According to the preliminary assessment of the German Weather Service (DWD), the average temperature of the month, which is considered capricious, was 6.1 degrees this year and was thus 1.3 degrees below the value of the internationally valid reference period 1961 to 1990. Compared to the current and warmer months In the comparative period from 1991 to 2020, the deviation was even minus 2.9 degrees.
The month began almost in early summer, especially in southwest Germany.
In Müllheim, south of Freiburg, there was the monthly high of 25.9 degrees.
But cool north winds quickly took over and lowered the temperature level significantly.
After years of very warm April months, this year's Easter month ended up being the coolest since 1980.
In addition, there was unusually frequent frost, said a DWD spokesman.
With almost 13 frost days on average for all DWD stations, 2021 was the second frostiest April in Germany after 1929.

Where is that "global warming" that I keep hearing so much about!
Where is that “global warming” that I keep hearing so much about!
Silly kids. It’s the global warming that is causing all the global cooling donchaknow?
Quick, we must suck billions out of the economy and funnel it to politicians, bureaucrats, and their cronies to prevent the world from burning to death in 10 years!
Our Sun is in a Maunder Minimum apparently. No global warming for a while if it is.
Oh, John Effin’ Kerry is now telling us that Climate Change didn’t mean global warming, even though all they ever talked about was a global rise in temperature.
“...the value of the internationally valid reference period 1961 to 1990...” Guess any other historical data outside the “internationally valid reference period” is invalid? Ice ages? Meh! Warm decades? Meh!
As the German meteorological expert said: “Any colder in this global warming and I’ll freeze my bippy off going out to check the temperatures.”
Nod to Laugh-In.
Quick, we must suck billions out of the economy and funnel it to politicians, bureaucrats, and their cronies to prevent the world from burning to death in 10 years!
Or freezing to death!
The actual crises or lack thereof does not matter!
The important thing is to give money and power to politicians!!
It is the only thing which will save us!
I’d like to think Mrs. Mother Nature senses the coming havoc liberal enviro-weenies are attempting force feed us here, on her planet, and is sending signals to forestall them.
But, probably not. She’s doing whatever she does and no known forces can stop her.
“Well, it’s actually Global CLIMATE CHANGE”, you see. /s
I’m near Stuttgart, this spring has been cool and wet. Positively sick of rain, snow, mist, and dreary clouds. We had one dry stretch of about 10-12 days, now it’s wet again.
Bad news for Greta
I was torn between that and “Dark Ages” but this sorta comes before that, logically.
:D
We’ll wait in stone circles
‘Til the force comes through
Lines joint in faint discord
And the stormwatch brews
A concert of kings
As the white sea snaps
At the heels of a soft prayer
Whispered
I find myself listening to the insanely under-rated “A” album a lot, lately.
/there’s nothing for it but to sit and wait for the hard men to get me out
CHILDREN JUST AREN’T GOING TO KNOW WHAT SNOW IS
Tim Blair
The Independent, 2000:
Snow is starting to disappear from our lives. Sledges, snowmen, snowballs and the excitement of waking to find that the stuff has settled outside are all a rapidly diminishing part of Britain’s culture, as warmer winters – which scientists are attributing to global climate change – produce not only fewer white Christmases, but fewer white Januaries and Februaries … Global warming, the heating of the atmosphere by increased amounts of industrial gases, is now accepted as a reality by the international community … According to Dr David Viner, a senior research scientist at the climatic research unit of the University of East Anglia, within a few years winter snowfall will become “a very rare and exciting event”. “Children just aren’t going to know what snow is,” he said.
As long as it doesn’t interfere with barley production.
