Monday, MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” reacted to former President Donald Trump having a microphone set up at Mar-a-Lago with a band to entertain and speak to crowds. “Never Trump” network contributor Charlie Sykes agreed with host Joe Scarborough that there is a “personality cult” problem in the GOP after Trump entered the fray. He argued that “Ronald Reagan couldn’t win a primary in the Republican Party these days” because of how much the party has changed into “blind loyalty” for Trump.

"This from the party that practically invented the Cult of Personality in American politics. Jackson, Wilson, FDR, Kennedy, Carter and Obama."
And - as laughable as it is - they are even trying to do it with Biden and Dr. Jill. The fawning has been non-stop.

I have noticed over the last thirty years that the press immediately makes a personality cult of the Democrat flavor of the week. Just in the past two or three years we've seen it with AOC, Beto, Warren, Kamala, Biden, and several others.
Whoever seems to be on the ascendancy, or who emerges as the winner, is immediately cast as the smartest, coolest, most articulate, most charismatic, most compassionate, most moral, best-dressed, most wonderful person imaginable.

I first became aware of Charles Sykes in the 1980s when he published a book. He came across as an obnoxious jerk then. It appears that he hasn’t changed.

The very people we are against in the GOPe, the Party of the Bushes and McCains and Romenys, would have been openly against Reagan. Just like they are against Trump.
