Former President George W. Bush said he believes the Republican Party will win in future elections if its members embrace traditional ideals and curb the "white Anglo-Saxon Protestantism."
Asked about the state of the Republican Party, Bush told "The Dispatch Podcast" he believes there's potential to win in the upcoming midterm elections and the 2024 presidential election.
"I think Republicans will have a second chance to govern because I believe that the Biden administration is a uniting factor, particularly on the fiscal side of things," he said.
But the Republican Party will not win by representing ideals tied to white supremacy, he suggested.
"If the Republican Party stands for exclusivity - it used to be country clubs, now it's white Anglo-Saxon Protestantism - then it's not going to win anything," Bush said.

Americans should just stop being what they are (white Anglo-Saxon Protestants) and assume the position of inferiority that has been chosen from them by the oligarchy.
Yeah, right. Jut a complete denial of all that has made America the great and powerful country that it is. While these WASPs make up a fairly large demographic, it is not the fact that they may be white, or Anglo-Saxon, or Protestant, but that they set the example for prosperity and domestic tranquility.
Trouble is, there are those who cannot stand either prosperity or domestic tranquility, so they go out and invents all kinds of adversity, just to keep their own lives interesting.
Ironically, Trump did better with minorities than W could have ever dreamed of.
I did not like his Ol Man, but at least GHW Bush accomplished something. He ended the conflict he started and he fought in WW2 for this country.
