TSA extends mask mandate on planes, buses, trains

May 1 (UPI) -- The Transportation Security Administration has extended its mask mandate for public travel by air, bus and rail.

The agency announced the Sept. 13 extension Saturday. The mandate was set to expire May 11.

"The federal mask requirement throughout the transportation system seeks to minimize the spread of COVID-19 on public transportation," said Darby LaJoye, the senior official performing the duties of the TSA administrator.

"Right now, about half of all adults have at least one vaccination shot and masks remain an important tool in defeating this pandemic. We will continue to work closely with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to evaluate the need for these directives and recognize the significant level of compliance thus far."

The TSA implemented the mandate Feb. 1 as part of President Joe Biden's order promoting protective health measures against COVID-19 in the travel sector.

Under the rules, masks are required at airports, bus and rail stations. The requirement applies to passenger aircraft, public transportation, passenger railroads and over-the-road buses operating on scheduled fixed-routes, the TSA said.

Flyers over the age of 2 who refuse to wear a mask will not be permitted in secure areas of airports, which includes the terminal and gate area, the TSA said.

Face shields and goggles are not acceptable substitutes for masks, the agency noted.

Under the mandate, TSA employees can cite and fine anyone who refuses to comply or interferes with screening agents.

10) signal to positions of power that you are willing to give up all of your rights and freedoms based on anything they say, even if it is a BIG FAT LIE!

How does the TSA have authority over trains and bus services? They were created supposedly, to scream passengers for weapons and nothing else, but like all government programs they seem to have morphed into some new monstrosity.

For how long have they been telling us, both Elected officials, and idiot leftists that worship them that the masks and vaccines would eradicate come in and make it disappear. That’s practically been their mantra since last March, now they realize that you can’t stop a virus from spreading, just like you can’t stop the flu so they need to shift the goalposts.

1. We have effective vaccines
2. People can or cannot choose to get it
3. Therefore the is no further need for mandate as anyone can make a choice
4. New York announces full reopening on July 1
5. California will reopen in full next month or so

BUT YOU HAVE TO WEAR A MASK TO GET THERE?

So, my daughter flies to Mexico, and to return she has to provide a Covid Free Exam...to prove she is virus free. On board are 100 passengers, all having the certificate they are Covid Free. Now the air filters through the airplane and supposedly smacks and kills all airborne Covid Virus. So, Please tell me Dr Faucci, why, if everyone on the plane is Covid free. why they are using masks.. Answer Please? It doesn’t take but a 6th grade education to realize this is a game the government is playing on us.

We were freed from the mandate in our county today. We went to a park to celebrate my granddaughter’s birthday that had hundreds of people picnicking and playing sports. I didn’t see a single mask.
