Employees of a vendor paid to conduct COVID-19 contact tracing in Pennsylvania may have compromised the private information of at least 72,000 people, including their exposure status and their sexual orientation, the state Health Department said Thursday.

“We are extremely dismayed that employees from Insight Global acted in a way that may have compromised this type of information and sincerely apologize to all impacted individuals,” Ciccocioppo said.
Insight Global acknowledged it mishandled sensitive data and apologized. The company has been paid about $28.7 million since March 2020, according to the state Treasury Department.
Ciccocioppo said some of the records in question associated names with phone numbers, emails, genders, ages, sexual orientations and COVID-19 diagnoses and exposure status ...
Insight Global, which started a health care division during the pandemic and bills itself as a “leading talent solutions firm,” was under pressure to scale up quickly. The company had to hire 250 contact tracers within 35 days, then bring on additional workers every two weeks until the effort was fully staffed.

When a company challenges you for your covid vaccine status, just say,
“I’d be happy to show you my vaccine status after you show me the results of your last HIPAA Audit.”
Insight Global is an IT Recruiting firm. Their employees do as they are told and do not independently. Someone told them to do it that way.
Seems odd to do contact tracing for an airborne virus.

Odd that there is no mention of penalties for breach of contract, nor penalties for violating the law protecting medical information. There ought to be prison time for every member or contractor of that company.
Yeah.i’d give them all that personal info..
What the hell is WRONG with people?
They have home test kits for covid. Just take the test at home, and keep your privacy. Right now, in WA state, people still go to government outlets to get tested. The end result is shutdowns. We are facing a complete shutdown next week. Do the test at home!
Thanks but I have no intention of doing any sort of test.
I am snarkily curious as to why anyone would give such info as sexual orientation, etc. for a test.
Pennsylvania Ping!
Please ping me with articles of interest.
FReepmail me to be added to the list.
I’ll get tested if I get sick enough to require medical attention.
Otherwise it serves no good purpose, public or private.
