That should raise West-East cross-country freight rates another 25% or so.

Freight is already a mess in this country. LTL trucking is the worst I’ve ever seen it. Thanks to this idiocy, it can only get worse.

A large strike by indy owner-ops would bring this country to its knees.

Goggle “America’s Trucking Network” for more.
(and, no, I am not a trucker or a klik weasel)

It’s just something — trucker’s atitudes — for a very long while.

Each state has to pass something similar, as of now doubt Florida and Texas will.

There are so many trucks going up and the i5/us99, this ruling will put a big dent in that traffic

“The ruling is “a massive victory for California’s truck drivers”

Will they still think it’s a massive victory when they lose their jobs?

I have business associates who have followed this story closely, and I was surprised at how low-key they've been about this ruling.

Apparently AB5 is not a big issue for any independent trucker who runs his business correctly. It's amazing how many people try to run a business as a "contractor" without having even so much as a separate bank account for the business. These are giant red flags for the IRS even without AB5 in California.

Can Mexican licensed trucks travel in the US?

Will more shipments just switch to them?

Will destroy owner operators in California. This is a simple payoff to the big trucking companies making them the only game in town in CA.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco overturned a ruling last year by a federal judge that said federal interstate transportation law pre-empted 2019’s Assembly Bill 5.

In overturning that decision, the appellate court’s 2-1 decision found that AB5 doesn’t conflict with federal law because it is “a generally applicable labor law that affects a motor carrier’s relationship with its workforce and does not bind, compel, or otherwise freeze into place the prices, routes, or services.”

... Unions own California and own Joe Biden. Transportation costs will skyrocket.

Work slow down coming.

I know a lot of independents and they see what the unions are doing is trying to consolidate power by force of law...
