Gov. Greg Abbott said Tuesday he would sign legislation allowing Texans to carry handguns in public without a license, breaking his silence on a proposal that has been building unprecedented momentum in the Texas Legislature.

"I support it, and I believe it should reach my desk, and we should have 'constitutional carry' in Texas," Abbott told North Texas radio host Rick Roberts.

This legislation is moving in the proper direction.

Last week, Patrick created a new committee with a majority of permitless carry supporters. The House legislation, House Bill 1927, was then referred to the panel, and HB 1927 is set for a hearing Thursday.

Abbott said he has talked to "several senators" on the new Senate Special Committee on Constitutional Issues.

After he bankrupted electric customers and a few electric companies and caused many BILLIONS of dollars of damage to people’s homes, he needs anything to reverse his loss of support.

Fire Abbott!

re: “After he bankrupted electric customers ... “

HOW did he do that? The electricity market has been DEREGULATED decades before Abbott got into office ...

ANYBODY who chose “Griddy” as their retail provider HAD TO KNOW that electricity bought on the spot market is going to SPIKE IN PRICE in times of short supply.

Is this NEWS to you?

Y’all reach out to your state senators and let them know via phone or email. Every bit helps and it only take a moment.

This should be the easy work of ten minutes.

When alleged conservatives have to actually conserve something, they act like they are physical pain.

Abbott artificially pegged the electric price per kilowatt-hour at $9 for 90 hours. In the last 24 hours of that, electric prices were actually lower than $0.10 a kilowatt-hour, but Abbott forced an override of $8.90+ for each KWH.

The price was artificially set for 90 hours to the absolute maximum allowed by law.

ERCOT is supposed to “correct” for anomalies after the fact, but Abbott REFUSED to do so.

Every person on the Public Utility Commission was HANDPICKED by Abbott.

Abbott RE-REGULATED the market through his policies and failures after the fact to fix the crud he did.

Expect a scumbag like Abbott to say this. He’ll get cover from Dan Patrick who is against it.

Texans are not forgetting where Abbott stood on mandatory mask wearing. He is done in Texas and he is just trying to put some distance between him and his unconstitutional mask orders. There will be a new Republican candidate for governor.

Abbott ruled that any county with 20 expected cases of COVID-19 had to have all the restrictions.

That means any family of four you knew were responsible for the entire county being in effective lockdown with all “non-essential” businesses permanently closed.

How does he do this when he has no authority to do so? It was all a “bully pulpit” approach that counties were more than happy to make “pseudo-law” to bully people.

That is, a family of four with COVID were responsible for 1/5 of the needed numbers to lock down a county.

My bad.

re: “Abbott artificially pegged the electric price per kilowatt-hour at $9 for 90 hours.”

WHERE do you get this?

Post a link?

You DO realize there is a real-time price for electricity based on SUPPLY and DEMAND?

DO you know how to read this map of realtime NODE pricing?

IF that were the case MY BILL during that time would have been ASTRONOMICAL!!

It wasn’t.

Idiot.

You know NOTHING of how the electricity market, and fixed price contracts between generating entities and retailer work, or how the WHOLESALE market works in Texas ...
