However, retail drug trafficking activity there has not ceased, and the lords allow the tourism commercial activities as long as it doesn't interfere with theirs. They post signs all over that photos and videos of their turf are not allowed. These guys went to buy pot, insisted on taking pictures after being warned not to, got into a fight with the locals, until one of the locals produced a gun.
Moral of the story: Don't get involved with drugs in PR and much less pick fights with local drug dealers if you want to have a safe and pleasurable vacation.
Over the past few months we've had serious issues with aggressive and hostile and entitled 'tourists' from the mainland, not the usual travelers we were accustomed to.
If only PR had effective wood and deep fryer control laws...
You know, you just gave really good advice for how a tourist stays out of trouble, enjoys the island and its people, and can look forward to good health and a long life. Unfortunately, too many people won’t follow it.
Vegas is seeing the same issues from similar ‘tourists’
Tariq Loat...
I am going guess there will be no BLM demonstrations...doesn’t fit the narrative.
“Don’t take pictures here”
“You aren’t the government. You can’t tell me what to do. Pictures are allowed during Covid”
(azz kicking ensues)
“Hey social distancing”
Over the past few months we’ve had serious issues with aggressive and hostile and entitled ‘tourists’ from the mainland, not the usual travelers we were accustomed to....
I live near a small tourist town and was going to take a summer job there. After visiting recently I quickly changed my mind. Don’t know if it was the covid lockdown, the continuing breakdown in morals or what...but people tend to think they are, as you put it “entitled”. They
are animals.
Played the stupid game and won the ultimate stupid prize.
There is SOOOOO much here... where to begin!
“These guys went to buy pot,”
“got into a fight with the locals”
“the (drug) lords allow the tourism commercial activities as long as it doesn’t interfere with theirs.
“They post signs all over that photos and videos of their
turf are not allowed.”
“they tried to take photographs, despite being told not to”
“we’ve had serious issues with aggressive and hostile and entitled ‘tourists’”
“The duo were beaten with an exercise weight, a piece of wood and a deep fryer”
“Loat’s badly burned body was found by authorities”
They should have gone to Jamaica (mon). Where every ten minutes someone tries to sell YOU pot. No need to go to sketchy drug towns.
I lived in PR over 50 years ago and LaPerla was a “no go” area then. Even the police wouldn’t venture into LaParla.
A story I heard back then is that once police had gone into LaParla to arrest a murderer. It was a jeep load of officers. All of the police officers disappeared, as well as the jeep. No trace of had ever been found.
Will PR legalize recreational weed soon? Not my thing, but figured since they are starved for revenue.
Dead of terminal stupidity.
I was at a party once when this girl whips out her Polaroid (yes that long ago) and started to take pictures of everyone sitting around a less than legal substance on the table. I couldn’t imagine being that age again when everyone has a camera and thinks it wise to document everything around them.
Your “Moral of the Story” applies well throughout the universe.
Probably planning to post the pictures of the drug deal on Facebook to show to all of their friends.
1st rule of drug deal..... no selfies
Precisely the policy we need at the border.
All borders.
