Gee, this isn't too patronizing essentially saying, "You poor uneducated black Americans. It's a good thing we're here now to save you from your bad habit of smoking menthol cigarettes because you obviously don't know any better. We know it's not your fault. Oh, and that goes for you LGBTQ folks, too. It is such a good thing we're in control now before all of you do any more damage to yourselves. You poor dears."

It's not a toxic ingredient, it's just flavoring.
Let people enjoy something and leave them alone.

Go figure, the most destructive recreational product is alcohol which destroys more lives, more families and jobs in one year than a lifetime of tobacco usage.
The assault on tobacco was incremental but successful.
I have a horse in this race because my brother was killed by a drunk hispanic who ran a red light out in California back in October, 2001.
Can't ban booze tho because too many law makers enjoy it.......

Hmm, so menthol cigarettes largely effects DEM voters; therefore, must be banned to preserve the vote......./s

Let them decide for themselves what to smoke. The cradle to grave government has already done enough damage.

Both my grandfathers smoked cherry tobacco. I remember stealing swisher sweets at the drug store when I was five — they were conveniently in the same rack as the candy.

When I smoked, it was never menthol. That stuff tasted gross. In fact, when I decided to quit, I bought a pack of menthol so that when the cravings became too strong and I felt I had to light up, it was menthol that would quickly put me off. I quit in October, 1989, and have never had a relapse.

A future black market product.
Now, instead of getting busted for weed, they’ll get busted for Kools.

Menthol cigarettes are already banned in Massachusetts. The last time I was in the city some guy was standing out in front of Home Depot saying "Kools ... Kools." I guess he had bought a few packs/cartons in New Hampshire or Rhode Island and was trying to sell them.
There's a big debate about whether banning menthol cigs is racist ... or not racist. For activists menthol cigarettes are themselves racist, but people who like them are going to be really p____d off. Some people can't live without them.
