Education Department Proposal Would Flood Public Schools With Woke Curricula
Free Beacon ^ | April 21, 2021 | Alex Nester

The Biden administration this week proposed a rule that would encourage public schools to adopt radical, racially driven curricula in American history and civics classes.

The Department of Education on Monday proposed a rule that would prioritize federal funding for education groups that help schools develop and implement antiracist teaching standards. If the rule takes effect, the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education would increase grants to woke groups across the country.

School districts in recent months have increased their efforts to weave critical race theory—the idea that America's political and economic systems are inherently racist—into K-12 curriculum standards. The Education Department's proposal signals the Biden administration's support for this trend.

The rule would allocate federal funding for education contractors who work to "improve" K-12 curriculum by promoting "racially, ethnically, culturally, and linguistically responsive teaching and learning practices." The rule would also require the Education Department to encourage social studies curricula that teach students about "systemic marginalization, biases, inequities, and discriminatory policy and practice in American history."

The Education Department claims that the coronavirus pandemic and "ongoing national reckoning with systemic racism" make changes to the education system necessary. The proposal cites the New York Times‘s 1619 Project and antiracist scholar Ibram X. Kendi's criticisms of American education.

"Schools across the country are working to incorporate antiracist practices into teaching and learning," the proposal reads. "It is critical that the teaching of American history and civics creates learning experiences that validate and reflect the diversity, identities, histories, contributions, and experiences of all students."

The proposal will undergo a month-long notice-and-comment period, during which interested parties can submit questions on the rule to the department. The department must respond to each individual comment prior to releasing a final draft of the rule, which can take months or even years depending on the number of comments received.

Christopher Rufo, a Manhattan Institute senior fellow who has documented the antiracist push in schools and federal institutions, told the Washington Free Beacon that this decision shows the Biden administration's true colors.

"President Biden is structuring the Department of Education's programs to incentivize critical race theory in America's public schools," Rufo said. "Biden campaigned as a moderate, but this decision would bring a radical and unpopular ideology into the classroom. The federal government should reject the principles of race essentialism, collective guilt, and neo-segregation, not encourage them in the public education system."

The Biden administration's move follows national trends to weave anti-American ideology into public schools. The Illinois State Board of Education in February approved a set of learning standards that asks teachers to "mitigate" behaviors that stem from "Eurocentrism" and "unearned privilege."

California has considered adopting standards that teach kids to "resist" Christianity and other elements of the "Eurocentric neocolonial condition." And the North Carolina State Board of Education in February adopted a new set of K-12 history curriculum that teaches high schoolers to "compare how some groups in American society have benefited from economic policies while other groups have been systematically denied the same benefits."

The US educational system is a propaganda machine.
They no longer deserve our tax dollars. From what I hear mothers saying, people are educating their children via other methods.

This link goes to the Washoe County School Districts(NV) site and shows the link to the ‘splc’ and their involvement in promoting the “sj” agenda starting with toddlers. I made my comments and they should have been deleted by now. Our tax dollars at work.

I just caught a typo there. It should be “...help schools develop and implement antiwhite teaching standards.”

As a side note, I’m a retired public school teacher. And I’ve advocated for public education, as it has helped make America a true melting pot. That was true when I was a kid, and maybe up until 15 years ago. But it’s not true any more.

I wouldn’t even consider hiring an indifferent roofer with a questionable reputation. If I paid him money and couldn’t get it back, and I found out he could care less about his performance, I wouldn’t let him near my house. The problems created would be immense.

Sending a child to such a place is incomprehensible.

If this rule helps drive a stake through public schools, I’m all for it.

Abolish the DOE, and return ALL control of the public schools to the parents, with no oversight above the state level.

Write laws to limit the influence of national teachers’ unions within the states.

Abolish “teachers’ colleges” and make it essential for teachers to hold degrees in what they TEACH. No more empty degrees in “education”.

Abolish CORE and everything after it (CRT, 1619 Proj) and return to the BASICS and Enforce rules that require proficiency in reading, writing and MATH at grade level. Start teaching critical thinking again.

Reinstitute tracking and vocational and technical schools.

Cut administration and “guidance counselor” numbers by HALF.

Institute school choice and have the tax dollars follow the child.

Parents, a great many of you have been overseeing your child’s education at home this past year. I don’t believe the media when it says you are all scared, worried, stressed...I believe a good many of you have found that “hell yeah, I CAN teach my kid!”. If you want to continue this, find an actual home schooling group to enroll in. These groups put ALL the control in YOUR hands, provide socialization programs and even sports and proms, etc. Kids who are home schooled are number 1 in terms of intellectual growth and do MILES better than those trapped in the failing public school system, followed only by those in private schools.

Don’t let the abysmal federally controlled public school system ruin your kids’ lives and future.

Imagine all the White kids having to accept constant denigration
as racists as if they had a plantation with 500 slaves on it right
now.

Ahhhh NO!

A line has to drawn at some point, and right now is the time.

About five years ago I suggested privatizing schools and doing
a clean sweep of employees and curriculum.

At the time I proposed we close schools for a year and reset
everything.

People on the right laughed.

The Left just did it.

Time to wake up friends.

Thank you for referencing that article Mr. Mojo. Please note that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

"Education Department [??? emphasis added] Proposal Would Flood Public Schools With Woke Curricula"

FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument
Public schools follow the federal dollars by complying with federal regulations. That's understandable to an extent.

H O W E V E R…

If public schools were teaching students about the federal government’s constitutionally limited powers as the delegates to the Constitutional Convention had intended for those powers to be understood, then school children would be able to explain the following major constitutional problems with federal involvement in INTRAstate schools outside the scope of militia training to school administrators.

From related threads…

Simply put, the states have never expressly constitutionally given the corrupt, unconstitutionally big federal government the specific power to dictate, regulate, tax and spend in the name of intrastate schooling.

In fact, President Thomas Jefferson, in a State of the Union address, had used education as an example of a power that the states would first need to amend the Constitution so that Congress could stick its big nose (my words) into intrastate education, the states never amending Constitution for that purpose.

Justice Joseph Story had likewise indicated that the states have never expressly constitutionally given the feds the specific power to tax and spend for intrastate schooling, not the business of the feds.

"The power to regulate manufactures, not having been confided to congress, they have no more right to act upon it, than they have to interfere with the systems of education, the poor laws, or the road laws, of the states [emphases added]. Congress is empowered to lay taxes for revenue, it is true; but there is no power to encourage, protect, or meddle with manufactures." —Joseph Story, Article 1, Section 8, Clause 1, Commentaries on the Constitution 2

But as a consequence of seemingly not knowing the federal government's constitutionally limited powers, school administrators unsurprisingly don't seem to understand that the “federal” funding for their schools that they regularly beg the feds for is arguably local and state revenues that the corrupt, post-17th amendment ratification Congress has stolen from local and state governments by means of unconstitutional federal taxes, taxes that Congress cannot justify under its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers.

The remedy for unconstitutional federal government interference in intrastate schooling…

Patriots need to primary (2022) local, state and federal elected officials who don't promise to put a stop to unconstitutional federal taxes and federal interference in state schooling, and many other state issues.

And to make such changes permanent, patriots also need to be working with their local and state lawmakers to repeal the ill-conceived 17th Amendment.

The 16th Amendment needs to disappear too.

As patriots deal with unconstitutional federal government overreach, patriots also need to work with federal and state lawmakers to require judges and law enforcement officials to do the following when someone is accused of violating a federal law.

Judges and law-enforcement officials need to inform the accused of the constitutional clause(s) that arguably justifies the allegedly broken law for further scrutiny of the constitutionality of that law, especially where unconstitutional federal peacetime gun control laws are concerned imo.

In the Sane Era, all it took was a couple of lessons in 8th grade Social Studies class.

Prejudice is wrong. Discrimination is wrong. Don't practice them. End of story.
