So, yesterday I returned to my country of origin, the United States of America, from an undisclosed foreign country. I choose not to disclose out of an abundant sense of self-preservation, given the intrusive nature of our present-day, less than gracious social media and mainstream media. I want to go through the exact events of yesterday and a few days leading up to it.
I was away for several weeks and started my journey home several days before my departure. Since a negative COVID test has to be presented before boarding a plane destined for the U.S., I had to learn the accepted methods for obtaining a test no more than three days prior to departure in a country where I do not speak the language. And of course, I had to sweat it out as to whether my test would come back negative, given the high degree of false positives. This meant that my plans were still up in the air until the evening before my scheduled flight.
The process turned out to be relatively painless, except for the price tag of $67.00. The technician actually came to my apartment to obtain the specimen, and then hand-delivered the printed result the next day. As my result was negative, I was finally able to confirm my travel plans and make any final arrangements for transfers for the next day.
The next morning, I headed to the airport bright and early. One positive development for international travel is that much of the information you used to have to fill out on the plane, can now be done in advance online. I had all of my paperwork printed out or captured on my phone. The experience at the foreign airport was painless and very efficient.

I’m laughing.
While the whole mask thing is a joke, fat people are my number one reason for not wanting to fly. For work, I used to fly approximately 35 weeks per year, multiple flights per week. I do not find it enjoyable and when vacationing I try my best to find alternative means of travel. Until airlines have fat seats for fat customers and require them to pay for a fat ticket, I have no desire to fly. Your body is the Lord's temple. Start treating it as such.
Sometimes I feel like I’m living in an insane assylum. Charts still taped to restroom mirrors showing us how to wash our hands etc like we are a bunch of children.
I love it when people just pull up the front of their shirt over their mouth....or put a cotton scarf up over their mouth and nose, and that’s ok. Useless. The whole thing is drama.
What comes to mind is the old story about the emperor who has no clothes. So fitting.
“The process turned out to be relatively painless, except for the price tag of $67.00”
Cheap test. Before we cancelled our trip to Hawaii we were looking at $150 each (with no guarantee the results would come back in time for the flight).
Satire.
The biatch had a horrible time.
Speaking of ID, which the author mentions at the end, I have to wonder why Americans born and raised here have to go through this process of REAL ID. I had to go through hoops to get some of the crap they wanted so I can have a red star on my license. If you have been married more than once, it can be a problem.
Illegals get their debts forgiven, can fly wherever they want without their “papers”, vote without ID, but me an natural born American has to prove it.
This place we are living is no longer America.
This where elite status and selectively paying up for biz class when it’s reasonable help - I always book aisle furthest up I can get for free and if less than $140/way, pay up for biz class if work won’t cover it directly (they do across country) or hope for free upgrade. This doesn’t eliminate your risk of sitting next to a lardo but does help significantly. I also have a couple lounge cards for similar reasons. Flying is a pain, and the extra 15% -20% and sticking as close as possible to one airline really does make a difference.
Maybe your body is a temple, but for fat people it’s a cathedral.
More like a football stadium.
I treat them as a sick joke and mock them and their sycophants whenever possible.
Where I live, it’s totally expected that masks be worn almost everywhere. Idiots even wear them alone.
We spent Friday and Saturday in a rural part of a state with a large population of people who shun cars in favor of horse and buggy. even though we went to 2-3 restaurants, a hotel, a church, and a couple hours in a really cool store, the only time my face diaper came out of my pocket was to mockingly show it to someone. Mine is from fakemaskusa.com and is made of mesh.
I can’t tell you how great it felt to be human and to talk with people who had faces.
My job is public facing and mostly outdoors so I truly never wear one when talking with people. Maybe 1 1/2 hours a week total and one hour is mandated at church.
Perhaps in lieu of masks people could like the lepers of previous times ring little bells and announce they are unclean.
I believe in Britain a returning traveler would have to spend a week in a quarantine hotel for which the returning traveler would have to pay the equivalent of about $2200.
“Charts still taped to restroom mirrors showing us how to wash our hands etc like we are a bunch of children.”
It only helps for colds and flu. Covid isn’t spread by contact
I have a black RESIST mask that was a NeverTrumper relic. I used a razor blade to cut slits into it so I could breathe and I wear it under my nose. I call it my Karen Trigger.
I look forward to flying in May. Having lost 50 pounds during the lockdown, I’m now normal weight and will not be a problem seatwise for me or anybody else on an airline. And I’m going to stay that way!
I’m going to a concert in June, and the theater in the Austin-San Antonio area just sent out a notice that they are masks optional and normal seating, no social distancing. I cheered to read that email!
I play a game of how many stores i can go w/o a mask and how long. It is surprising how many don’t care.
It's sad that something that email is something for a person to cheer about. I miss America.
Certainly cannot tell if people are laughing.
