As one UCLA student claimed during the debate, automatic soap dispensers “don’t see her hands” due to the dark pigment of her skin. As another student reiterated, soap dispensers are racist because they force “black and brown bodies” to show their palms — “the only light areas of the skin” — in order to get soap out.

Don’t most all people catch the dispensed soap in their palms? I am missing the problem here. Perhaps the problem is the one who took offense at the hapless soap dispenser in the first place.

I am white and I cannot get certain ‘electronic’ things to work like soap dispensers and I have even had automatic doors not open!
We do have a good laugh from time to time about it, we don’t get all offended by it.

Some are black and they are offensive to me. They look ugly and dirty and I think they are going to dispense crap on my hands. Deeply disturbing.

Why does everything have to make the news? Can’t some of it just be ignored as the stupidity that it is?
The dispenser will work if you put the back of your hands underneath it ... however, most of the soap will run off before you can use it, but ... hey, c’mon man! It’s a motion sensor, isn’t it?
Next thing they’ll say is that powdered donuts are racist.
