Just a few months ago, California was the epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic in the U.S. Hospitals in Los Angeles were drowning in patients, and ambulances were idling outside with people struggling to breathe, waiting for beds to open.
The death count was staggering — so many that morgues filled and refrigerated trucks were brought in to handle the overflow.
Now as cases spike in other parts of the country, California has gone from worst to first with the lowest infection rate in the U.S. even as it has moved quickly to reopen more businesses with greater customer counts and allow larger gatherings.

I think they are manipulating the stats to help Newsom in his fight against the recall.
Hyperbole. When you have by far the largest population, the raw numbers can look bad, but CA was never the "epicenter", and is well below the national average for deaths and hospitalizations when adjusted for population. In fact, California is ranked 31st in deaths per 1M population, better than Texas, Florida and South Dakota. No doubt, the weather and outdoor lifestyle helped. One of the few places that was temporarily overwhelmed was Imperial County on the Mexican border, where COVID infected expats were flooding into a tiny county that didn't have the resources to deal with them.
The "epicenters" were NY, NJ, MA, and of course, Nursing Homes in general.
You mean infectious diseases follow a wave like pattern...who knew? ...well of course everybody pretty much knew this, except for idiots wanting to act like its some new discovery for some ulterior motive.

Therefore, it’s time to reopen CA’s economy.
Cal State and UC are now saying that every student and staff needs to be vaccinated by Fall. And yet they are still offering only 50% in person classes, at best (most of those are “hybrid”), by Fall.
Must be the new math.
That’s no surprise. California is one of the more vaccinated states.
