Chauvin transferred to Minnesota correctional facility

Convicted murderer and former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin has been transferred to the Minnesota Correctional Facility-Oak Park Heights.

Minnesota Department of Corrections spokesperson Sarah Fitzgerald told CNN that Chauvin arrived to the facility at 4:55 p.m. CT, shortly after he was declared guilty on all three charges against him in the death of George Floyd.

Fitzgerald added that a new booking photo of Chauvin would be made available on Wednesday.

Agreed. From what I’ve read about OPH, it’s very restrictive.

Looks like they’ll isolate him from general population for his own safety. That said, he shouldn’t have put his knee on George Floyd for over 9 minutes. That was a bonehead move by an experienced cop. But the trial was not fair so it should be declared a mistrial.
