South African emergency workers have evacuated three 17-storey residential buildings overlooking Cape Town as a huge fire burns along Table Mountain.

The blaze spread quickly after breaking out on Sunday morning near a memorial to politician Cecil Rhodes. A restaurant was destroyed.

The University of Cape Town's historic library was also badly damaged.

About 250 firefighters have been battling the blaze, which has been fanned by strong winds.

Helicopters were used to water-bomb flames, but their work had been hampered by the conditions.

It’s fall there of course, and these are similar to the CA fires that occur in the fall.

It looks like one of those dried up hillside fires that is common in southern California, some northern areas as well.

Three 17 storey residential buildings?
That like a large city populace, all bottled up together.

The way Antifa has tried to padlock police inside their station, then set the whole building on fire over in Portland? This happened, and barely even made the news cycle.

It is unprecedented that thick brush would ignite and burn in hot, dry weather. Poor, unlucky people! There is nothing they could have done to foresee and prevent this. Nothing.
