‘Beautiful Things: A Memoir’ didn’t crack the top 10 hardcover nonfiction books

Hunter Biden’s new memoir sold less than 11,000 copies in its first week despite heavy promotion from CNN, CBS News and ABC’s "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"

"Beautiful Things: A Memoir" sold 10,638 copies last week, according to Publishers Weekly. The book finished behind 11 other hardcover nonfiction books. Amanda Gorman’s "The Hill We Climb: An Inaugural Poem for the Country," sold 42,318 copies to finish atop the list.

This junkie mistook parmesan cheese for cocaine? WOW, he uses some potent stuff! I can just imagine Weird Al doing a remake of the Eric Clapton classic. Showing my age here, it reminds me of the smoking banana peels hoax in the late 60's. Mad magazine made fun of it.

Nobody wants to read the story of his adventures with drugs, how he got the big bucks for that Ukraine job, how he has no memory of getting a girl pregnant, or how he went after his dead brother’s wife? I’m shocked nobody wants to hear all the details of all of this.

sarcasm.

But...but...using drugs, impregnating a stripper, and pouncing on your dying brother’s wife are such “Beautiful Things”!

The DNC bought 10,000 of them.

Dollar stores ordered the rest at a quarter apiece.

Heh, like that idiot could write.
Actually, does anyone have proof that Slow Joe can write?
Both probably would reply that they “Most sertanly kan right.”
Heh, even including the “doktor” wife, we’re talking about a family that’s 46 cards short of a full deck.

Can’t they just get Amazon and Google to represent the sales number as 11 million copies? Or 110 million? That shouldn’t be too difficult.

He shoulda categorized it as “fiction”. 100K++ sold.

Why any publisher would think there would be any interest in this book is beyond me, but then, lots of things are.

What matters is how many million he got for an advance and what percentage went to the ‘big guy’. Whether anyone actually buys a copy is irrelevant.

The book should come with a free paper cut-out of a razor blade, mirror and $100 Dollar bill.

When she met and married Hunter, wife No 2 probably had no idea what she was getting into.

AFAIK, till now, she was not privy to any of the salacious details of Hunter’s sorry life and his sordid lifestyle.

and yet the kickback on the thousands of pre-order bulk sales to every Leftist outfit will still give the Bidens millions. It’s the same scheme used by the Obamas to magically create 95% of their personal wealth.

The advance to Hunter was a payoff to Joe. They don’t really care how many they sell.

The DNC bought 10,000 of them. Dollar stores ordered the rest at a quarter apiece.

LOL

Michael Savage and Mark Levin both explained how certain sales points at certain times will trigger Barnes & Noble and Powell's and others to push books as a "best seller" or "Number One" when Amazon and NY Times list it as such. Same sales spread over a three month period would not mean as much as the first weeks. So purchases behind the scenes by secret supporters make the difference. And average person sees the special display near the front of the store and says "That's probably a good book to read."

Yep, I think many politicians have done the book deal thing, and made tons of money.

If I recall correctly, when Hillary was “dead broke” as she and Bill exited the White House, Hillary was sitting on a multi million dollar contract to write one of her books at that time.

I’ve heard that public libraries become major buyers of some of these books. Even if these books don’t sell well at your local Barnes and Noble or other bookstores, public libraries will buy copies of these, which pump up sales. And royalties to the “author”. I put author in quotes, because I suspect many such books are ghost written.

Usually the publisher will straw purchase at least 10k of a book just to generate market buzz.....

Soon to be seen at Dollar General....

I’m sure all these lib book deals are just elaborate money laundering deals. They could be removed from whomever is offering the bribe, like ‘you give me this deal and I’ll give you $X million through this book deal’. All it needs is a ‘reputable’ book publisher to do it for a kickback to them. So the publisher is just a middle man in the legalized crime. Politics pays well.
