Column: What to do when your friends or family resist a COVID vaccine? Persist. Gently
Trib via Yahoo News ^ | April 5, 2021 | Mary Schmich

Posted on 04/15/2021 10:30:38 PM PDT by DoodleBob

Mary Murtaugh is a recently retired nurse who says she has never been shy about promoting good health. She wasn’t shy the day she asked her favorite grocery store cashier if she’d been vaccinated.

The cashier was emphatic. No. And she wasn’t going to be. After listening to the cashier explain that she’d had a bad reaction to a flu shot, Murtaugh persisted.

“I told her that I would be worried if she contracted COVID,” Murtaugh says, and the clerk promised to think about it.

Promising to think about something is often no more than a polite deflection. But the cashier did think about it. She later reported she’d gotten two doses of the Pfizer vaccine and thanked Murtaugh for the “gentle push.”

“Sometimes,” Murtaugh says, “all you need to do is plant a seed.”

Planting seeds in people reluctant to get a vaccine can be like trying to garden in the Sahara. When I asked people on Facebook how they’ve handled vaccine resistance among their friends and family, they cataloged the pushback they’d received, a mishmash of fear and fantasy:

Needles hurt. COVID-19 is a Democratic hoax. The vaccines are a government conspiracy. They’re made of synthetic materials and we shouldn’t put synthetic materials into our bodies. The government is using vaccines to insert nanoprobes into our arms.

One woman lamented that an old high school friend wouldn’t get vaccinated because during a visit to the beauty salon she’d heard about a man in Poland who dropped dead upon receiving the shot.

It’s tempting to generalize about vaccine resisters, but they don’t all fall into neat categories. One conservative-voting man I know has gotten the vaccine, but his adult children refuse to.

Its hard to argue with my response to the vaccine question. “Not in a million years”. That’s what I told my doctor. He laughed. How well he knows me. 😆

What Fauci and them did was to rename the flu as covid. Because somehow the flu disappeared and the flu just doesn't disappear.

How sad was it for old people to be sick with the initial stages of the flu and just be told to go home and rest in place, when they actually had the flu that turned into pneumonia? And then they come back to the emergency room right at death's door.

We had a slight-of-hand trick played on us. All to bump up the numbers of a made-up coronavirus infection that turned out to be a bad flu.

Fauci and them used the so-called "Spanish Flu" as their model. They wanted to recreate it and its number of deaths. And to have patents in place so they could make billions off of our pain and suffering.

The Flu of 1918 actually began when soldiers at Fort Riley Kansas were injected with serum from horses who were sick with bacterial pneumonia. And it killed something like 50 to 100 million worldwide.

That was their model. That is why they did the "gain of function" research to enhance a coronavirus, which is easily spread from person to person. By enhance I mean - TO MAKE MORE DEADLY. Gee, why else would they have patents taken out in advance?

They had the media all pumped to be a part. They got faith leaders involved. They even held an practice event about five months before "the outbreak" (Go to YouTube and look up "Event 201")

We have been played. They turned a regular cold and flu season into a Constitutional death trap.

It started out as a cold virus. Coronavirus is a cold virus. However, this particular cold virus has patents on it. Think about that for a second. A cold virus that has a patent on it, in fact several patents.

What they did when they were doing their "gain of function" research on the cold virus, they were trying to see if they could make a regular cold virus even more deadly. Yes, that was their goal.

For me to say "just a cold virus" sounds like I am being trivial. There was nothing trivial about Fauci and them working to make a virus, which is very easily transmittable from person to person, and see if they could make it deadly.

Then, just in case it isn't as deadly, well we'll just rename the flu that usually kills people with weak immune systems, we'll just rename it covid.

They actually stopped doing flu tests in the hospitals. So, there was no marker between the covid and the flu.

Virology researchers in California tested samples from people who had died of the covid. All they found was mostly Influenza A and a little Influenza B, but no covid.

We have been lied to. Fauci was recorded in 2017 to say that, "Trump will be surprised by a pandemic." How did he know almost three years in advance? And, how did he already have the patents ready for it?

We have missed funerals, weddings, eating out freely, just shopping without looking like we were living in Iran.

The goal was to get rid of Trump and to decimate our economy so that we would all clamor for our overlords to save us.

We have been played.

That’s a great mad-at-the-world song.

After a really bad day I’ll play some Drowning Pool, Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine or The Prodigy.

Takes the edge off!

My Mom has an upcoming doctors appointment and is concerned the doctor will ask her to take the shot and she is afraid to tell him that she doesn’t want too because it’s experimental, that he will cajole her until she does. I said Mom I’ll go with you if you want and she said no. I said just tell him that you are uncomfortable with taking experimental medication at this time, if in a couple of years it shows its safe you will consider taking it. If he persists tell him I have made my decision and you can respect it or I can find a new doctor.

My pastors wife was with her sister a Karen and they walked into a drug store across the street from their work on lunch hour to pick up some items on sale and the pharmacists said ladies we have two J&J shots left have you had the shot yet? No they replied and her sister was eager to get the shot and she had to be talked into it and was reluctant she told me wife. She said twenty minutes after taking it she felt a deep regret, that oh Lord I screwed up. In a few hours she was terribly sick and stayed that way for nearly an entire day. Now she is scared to death of getting blood clots. She regrets the whole thing. To her the shot wasn’t reassuring, it’s like what have I done she told my wife in church Sunday.

“Gentle pushes” sound like used car salesman behavior. When someone gives me a gentle push to do something I don’t want to to, it raises my hackles, and I just get angry and run away as fast as possible.

The cashier probably told the nurse she was vaccinated just to get her to shut up about it.

She wasn’t shy the day she asked her favorite grocery store cashier if she’d been vaccinated.
[Old joke:]
A part-time streaker ran up to the checklane, put down his few decoy items, pulled off his clothes, displayed his member on the checkout counter, and said, "give me all your money".
The quick-thinking clerk looked at his groceries, picked up a can of Perkin's Mincemeat the perp had selected, and slammed it down right where it would do the streaker the least good. He passed out.
After the paramedics had put on an ice pack and put a hospital gown, and the police were leading him away, one of the first responders said, "next time just get a loaf of bread."
