City officials have released videos and other material showing what happened the night police fatally shot 13-year-old Adam Toledo.
Agree a quick and the dead matter.
If the cops KNEW he had a weapon and if the cop did not see him dispose of it then when the kid made the sudden move to turn around the cop was and should have been in fear of his life.
Monday morning QB is BS and those hear anxious to hang this cop ought to be ashamed. But of course they won’t be.
I’m qualified and I’m able to examine the video closely just like others who are qualified. At the time the suspect was shot, he’d already tossed the gun behind the opening in the fence, about 10’ up the fence line. At the time the officer fired, the suspect had both empty hands up.
I know this because if the suspect was still holding onto the gun at the time he was shot, the gun would have been found very close to the suspects body. That was certainly not the case here.
Could be. I've seen the pic of the recovered pistol, a 9mm Ruger, and understand he had gunshot residue on his hands. In the video it looked like there was an object by his right foot, but behind the fence would make more sense for a drop. Also worth remembering they were responding to shots fired.
> He pulls his hands out of his pockets to comply with “show my your hands” and is shot while doing so. <
I just watched the video, twice. You’re right. The cop gave the order. The kid obeyed the order. Then the cop shot the kid. There is no way in hell this was a good shoot.
Glad you are not someone with authority, your decision making skills are lacking. Let us adults do the work.
It’s getting to the point where a 13-year-old POC can’t safely run from the cops at night, with a realistic looking toy gun, wearing black.
Trigger happy. And let’s face it, it’s fun to have the power of life and death over 13 year old unarmed kids and occasionally to shoot one for absolutely no reason.
You play gangster you die like one options count.
Towards the tail end of that video that sure looked like a pistol against the fence with the slide back.
Yeah. A 30 some second tape/chase on a shots fired call. The new rule, LEOs can only return fire. Let the bad guy shoot first. On further thought, LEOs are trained, no return fire till the second shot.
Hey, I’ll defend the police when appropriate, criticize when also appropriate. This was by all appearances a bad shoot, unjustified. Deal with it or do you prefer knee-jerk responses and insults to real thinking?
Sounds like the clinton and omama admins when it comes to our troops being fired upon. Typical weasels.
Except for the fact that the kid had gunpowder residue on his hands, indicating he'd fired the weapon. So did the 21 year old parolee he was with.
Neighbors reported hearing multiple gunshots in the neighborhood, to which CPD responded.
How much you want to bet the parolee handed the gun to the kid before the police got there and that set off this tragic set of events?
There are also reports the kid had joined a local gang, so this may have not been the sweet little 13 year old boy he's being painted out to be.
Facts matter. Let's let the full truth come out before jumping to conclusions and blaming the police.
Yes, you can see the shadow of the gun in another frame.
I live out in the sticks here in Carolina. We respect authority here.
Have you ever been in a face to face situation with an armed assailant??
the rules of engagement are ridiculous.
Unfortunately, the cop will be sacrificed for doing what is right and justified. Inocent civilians will be disarmed eventually because not eveough if these little scumbags have been eliminated from the gene pool .
So good that this 13 year old pile of crap is DEAD
yes he deserved to die
I'm going to need an alibi!!!
That was reported on the early news on the Fox, ABC, NBC and CBS affiliates here in Chicago along with WGN. CBS here in Chicago also reported that gunpowder residue was found on the 13 year old kids hands, indicating he'd fired the weapon earlier that day. Shell casings found at another scene matched the gun he was holding also.
