I’ve seen your post and it is true.
I work very critical infrastructure and we are all getting to the point of leaving.
I am a boomer. The BS is over-whelming.
Agreed. Beginning to see the same thing in construction management. Lots of young college grads that only know “book learning” without experience or work ethic. Now that things are opening up again, I get called at least 3 - 4 times a week from recruiters looking for experienced PMs and Superintendents.
I work on ERPs - payroll, financials, HR, etc.
Our industry cannot find people to work and manage projects. These kinds of systems are not apps nor cool. But without them governnents and companies cannot operate.
I am retiring and can find no way to pass along 4+ decades of knowledge and wisdom.
And that's the point, isn't it? You can retire and scale down to life on a fixed income while prices climb or you can keep working while being forced to attend diversity training, sexual harassment training, racial sensitivity training, hate-whitey training, etc. while knowing the moment you open up your mouth to utter the truth, some "offended" person is going to use it to try to get you fired which could rob you of a pension.
It's your choice. I took retirement, took my pensions and social security, left the country to live where it is more affordable and haven't looked back.
