Trump receives award from Senate GOP campaign arm despite attacks on McConnell

The National Republican Senatorial Committee named former President Trump as the inaugural recipient of its "Champion for Freedom" award on Monday.

Why it matters: The award from Senate Republicans' campaign arm was presented the same weekend that Trump tore into Minority Leader Mitch McConnell at a Republican event at Mar-a-Lago, calling him a "dumb son of a b*tch" and "stone cold loser."

Trump owes McConnell for many of his legislative victories and historic rate of judicial appointments, but the two Republican leaders have not spoken since McConnell condemned the former president for inciting the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection.

Trump has also vowed to campaign against some incumbent Senate Republicans, including GOP whip John Thune (S.D.) and Sen. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska).

The big picture: Trump remains the most popular figure in the GOP, despite clear divisions with McConnell and other establishment Republicans. He's been actively releasing 2022 endorsements and will likely play a major role in GOP primaries for years to come.

The NRSC said the award is for "conservative leaders who have worked tirelessly to create good jobs, protect the values that make our country great, and stop the Democrats' socialist agenda."

It was presented to Trump by NRSC chairman Rick Scott, a Florida senator and possible 2024 presidential candidate who has straddled a line between loyalty to both Trump and McConnell.

Just reading that small dose of Trump expression reminded me that I miss his unpretentiously plain talk, cuss words and all.

It’s the RINO GOP-E’s way of rewarding Trump for stepping down after they made sure to help the Chinese and international global socialist community steal the election, and permanently eliminate any possible conservative vote in n the future.

They can say they gave Trump an award which lets them use his name without his permission.

Key swamp demons were making fortunes when they allowed US companies in a number of industries including pharma, computer; and electrical as well metal fabrication components even bicycles relocate their factories in China . To the point where China was our sole supplier.
Shipped here by rats and rinos who owned the boats like McConnell and Finestein.
The money the CCP has now comes from US .If we played our Chinese checkers right we could of really turn things around for the better not only here but in China as well.Check out this recent posting in Free Republic.com which the MSM and social venues will spike; http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3890312/posts. will be stopped by Biden and hailed by Walmart http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/3920123/posts

The only endorsements that he makes that matter are the full-throated ones, not the half-hearted ones. Rubio’s was half-hearted.

What happened on 6th January was no insurrection.

The DOJ is having a hard time making any charges stick.

Trump is quite right in showing how McConnell mishandled the Georgia Senate vote.

I think the looser GOP party is just beginning to realize they backed the wrong horse in screwing Trump and his 85 million followers and are trying to make a peace offering. Screw them to hell, what goes around comes around!

The GOP knows that there are countless conservative voters that won’t send them a dime. My guess is that they’ve decided to play nice with him just in case some of us change our minds and send them some money. I know I’ll never send them any money, regardless of what they say.

Rick Scott is a snake.
He clashed with Trump on various subjects and collapsed like a wet noodle on the Broward County gun issue, giving “Red Flag” laws and waiting periods legs.

He looks like Ron Howard’s brother and will NEVER get my vote.

I have had it with his kind of RepublicRat

Many snakes in the senate especially. But we cannot get rid of every one of them or we’d have 10 seats in the senate.
