Nearly 40% of US Marines are declining Covid-19 vaccinations, according to data provided to CNN on Friday by the service, the first branch to disclose service-wide numbers on acceptance and declination.
As of Thursday, approximately 75,500 Marines have received vaccines, including fully vaccinated and partially vaccinated service men and women. About 48,000 Marines have chosen not to receive vaccines, for a declination rate of 38.9%.
CNN has reached out to the other services for acceptance and declination rates.
The corresponding acceptance rate for vaccinations among Marines -- 61.1% -- is not far off the military estimate of two-thirds, or about 66%. Another 102,000 Marines have not yet been offered the vaccines. The total number of Marines includes active-duty, reserves and Individual Mobilization Augmentee Marines.
The declination rate at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, one of the prominent Marine Corps bases, was far higher, at 57%, according to another set of data provided to CNN. Of 26,400 Marines who have been offered vaccinations, 15,100 have chosen not to receive them, a number that includes both II Marine Expeditionary Force and Marine Corps Installation East -- Camp Lejeune. Another 11,500 active-duty Marines are scheduled to be offered the vaccines.
"We fully understand that widespread acceptance of the Covid-19 vaccine provides us with the best means to defeat the pandemic. The key to addressing the pandemic is building vaccine confidence," Marine Corps spokeswoman Col. Kelly Frushour told CNN in a statement.
Frushour said there are a number of potential reasons a Marine may choose not to receive a vaccine, including allowing others to receive it first, waiting until it becomes mandatory, getting it through other channels or being allergic to the vaccine.
"Service members who decline one day can change their mind and become vaccinated when next the opportunity presents itself," she said.

Say that to their faces. 40% of the Marines are not in any risk group, as to age or preconditions. They are in well cared for excellent health. This move is to “civilianize” and expand the target immunizations. Fauci talking about children now-— totally out to lunch. No science support this whatsoever.
This is one more part of the current narrative to force military to get a vaccine that is not approved by the FDA, an experimental Emergency Use Authorization which does not provide for the forced administration to any person, civilian or military. Something the public is being massaged to not understand, however medical professionals are quite well aware of this effort.
Bingo! Maybe when they turn 70 they might want it. Vaccinate all the vulnerable you want, but not my healthy body
The real story is that the Corps isn’t riddled with sick Marines. Why doesn’t this story compare the rejection rate to the infection rate?
Could you image if there were some real bad effects of these experimental treatments and the entire Marine Corps had to be medically discharged? Sounds like something right out of Communist China. Oh, wait, it is.

I believe that choice will turn to mandate once full authorization is given after the phase 3 trials are completed this fall.
They were given a choice because this identifies the “non-compliant” in the military.
Just like the rest of us in Western society.
The question is what they will do to us.

And I lived in Jacksonville NC for years. Have called plenty of them that and far worse to their faces... kicked more than a few fresh out of boot camp full of themselves asses as well in my day as well so stuff it.
And that’s was back before all the PC nonsense had infected the Corps.
