WASHINGTON (AP) — From a secure room in the Capitol on Jan. 6, as rioters pummeled police and vandalized the building, Vice President Mike Pence tried to assert control. In an urgent phone call to the acting defense secretary, he issued a startling demand.
“Clear the Capitol,” Pence said.
Elsewhere in the building, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi were making a similarly dire appeal to military leaders, asking the Army to deploy the National Guard.
These new details about the deadly riot are contained in a previously undisclosed document prepared by the Pentagon for internal use that was obtained by The Associated Press and vetted by current and former government officials.
The timeline adds another layer of understanding about the state of fear and panic while the insurrection played out, and lays bare the inaction by then-President Donald Trump and how that void contributed to a slowed response by the military and law enforcement. It shows that the intelligence missteps, tactical errors and bureaucratic delays were eclipsed by the government’s failure to comprehend the scale and intensity of a violent uprising by its own citizens.
With Trump not engaged, it fell to Pentagon officials, a handful of senior White House aides, the leaders of Congress and the vice president holed up in a secure bunker to manage the chaos.

If I recall the chain of command re the calling in of the DC National Guard, it would come from the White House, perhaps the Capitol Police/DC Police Dept. to the Mayor (incompetent Muriel Bowwow Bowser). Then the NG would be under her command and a possible co-command with the federal police agencies.
Remember, as one FReeper wrote, Trump was up Pennsylvania Ave giving a speech so he was out of the communications loop for a while.
Perhaps Pence had the power to ask for National Guard troops from DC or even surrounding areas, or Military Police (of which there are a lot in military facilities in the immediate area (as in down the street from me).
It seems that the Capitol Police were caught off-guard and didn’t have one central commander taking over protective operations for the whole building (Capitol/Congress).
The problem was that there were NOT ENOUGH on-site police of any jurisdiction to take down the real troublemakers before they could mingle with the non-violent protestors and that’s how things went to hell.
No FBI, yet they were right down the street at 9th & Penn. NW. Other Capitol Police in the various House and Senate buildings who could have been detailed immediately to the nearby Capitol. Didn’t happen that I know of (after they shut down their own buildings and left a skeleton crew on duty inside them).
Arlington PD right across the river as was the Alexandria PD. Did the Dept. of Homeland Security have officers available to help? Never heard any mention of them being called. The same for the Old Guard contingent at Arlington National Cemetery. How about members of the Federal Protective Service units guarding federal buildings? (My son was a member of one such emergency response team when he was a federal police officer).
U.S, Marshalls called? Among the best police officers around.
The Left’s war on law enforcement, aided and abetted by Pelosi/Schumer/ the Marxist Black Congressional Caucus and its twin Marxist group, the Democratic Progressive Caucus, and other far-left groups including the criminal Marxist organization BLM, all took a great toll on law enforcement agencies to respond to an emergency such as happened at the Capitol.
If you don’t know the players, you don’t know how the game is played. In DC, incompetence and paralysis were the results of the Dems/Left continual attacks on America’s law enforcement agencies, programs and systems.
I’ve seen this before but no one wanted to listen to those of us who understood what was going on by both the communist Left/racist left and by a few dangerous Far- Right extremists who pissed in the pot and spoiled the image of lawful, peaceful conservative protesters for a long time to come.
Now with a leftist led and crippled DHS (Mayorkas is incompetent to say the least), and an asskissing DOD more concerned with and imaginary right wing white supremacist threat to America, we can expect more authoritarian laws from the best friends the communists ever had, the Democrat Party and its toadies, black con-artist movements, braindead liberals and a president who doesn’t even know where he is.
Cheer up. Tax Day has been moved back a month, if we last that long. Russia is on the move; Red China is on the move; Turkey is on the move; Iran is on the move; ISIS is on the move; and No. Korea is on the move.

Still no news on this February 18th CNN report: “Six US Capitol Police officers have been suspended with pay, and 29 others have been placed under investigation, for their actions in the January 6 riot, a department spokesman said Thursday.”
It’s always been possible that Trump was not the “messiah” in political terms, but rather the “John the Baptist” preparing the way for the real leader.
I don’t see any evidence that people have abandoned Trump. Quite the contrary, I see a half dozen states engaging in the kinds of election audits they should have done right after November 3. Politics takes time, esp. with legislative bodies. They just do not turn on a dime.
One thing is clear: people are pretty rapidly starting to turn on Biteme’s radical agenda, esp. the immigration and guns. I think before it’s done, he’ll have alienated 2/3 of the country.

The GOP is just pretending to care about election fraud to GOTV for the midterms. When it mattered before and after the last election they were AWOL. Regardless, it really doesn’t matter now. Places like the Atlanta suburbs are filling up with Democrat transplants and it won’t be long before they can win legitimately in more formerly red states. Once that happens it is RIP USA.

The round used is CLEARLY one used by Capitol Police. It was them... OR someone using the same ammo and... “contracted” if one visualizes a conspiracy. All the participants at the shooting seemed to be both Directed and Choreographed. And individuals, many of them were clearly “acting” (no professional aspect to their actions, and uncorroborated outbursts of false reports throughout).

At some point, however, I keep thinking that the reality of these policies-—burning cities, illegals living right next to you, taxes-—will be too much for the Karens to overcome.
We’ll see. However, right now neither of us can prove a thing because the extent of the fraud in 2020 made ALL the data suspect. So we really don’t know who voted how.
