EXCLUSIVE – Saying that "to save New York, Andrew Cuomo’s gotta go," Republican Rep. Lee Zeldin on Thursday morning declared his candidacy for governor of the Empire State.
Zeldin becomes the first Republican to launch a challenge against New York’s embattled three-term Democratic governor, who faces allegations of sexual harassment from 10 female accusers, which has triggered an independent investigation by the state attorney general and an impeachment investigation in the State Assembly. Cuomo’s also facing a federal probe into the state’s handling of COVID deaths at nursing homes amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Zeldin, a staunch ally of former President Trump and a four-term lawmaker who represents the state’s 1st Congressional District in the eastern half of Long Island, made his announcement in a live interview on "Fox and Friends."
"I'm running for governor of New York in 2022," Zeldin said on "Fox & Friends." "We are going to win this race."
He added: "I'm all in, we are all in."
"We cant get complacent," Zeldin said, noting that people are "fleeing" the state amid high taxes and the coronavirus pandemic. "Let’s stay here. Let’s fight. Let’s return New York to its glory."

As long as our elections are rigged, it won’t matter who runs.
We need to ensure the integrity of the vote.
We need to urgently improve our election integrity levels to those of 3rd world countries. In the largest democracy in the world, they have printed 800 million voter ID cards WITH photograph. No one can vote without it. We need only 200 million such voter ID cards.
In New York?
I suspect Cuomo will be a shoo-in, even with major scandals attached to him.
This is why he refuses to step down, as he should.
Voter Fraud + Stupid Voter = Cuomo for another term.
I thought that Rudys’ son is, also, running for NY governor.
Pataki, Bloomberg, & Giuliani - all Republicans - all won in New York.
Someone tell him to open up a website with an issues and bio page we can read, and include it in the email pitches he’s sending out for donations.
Shouldn’t have to search and read who he is on fake news or schmuckapedia websites.
