As many as 246 Michigan residents who were “fully vaccinated” against COVID-19 later tested positive for the deadly bug — including three who have died, according to a new report.
The group — whose cases were reported between Jan. 1 and March 31 — tested positive at least two weeks after receiving the last dose of the inoculation, a health official told the Detroit News.
“Some of these individuals may ultimately be excluded from this list due to continuing to test positive from a recent infection prior to being fully vaccinated,” Lynn Sutfin, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Health and Human Services, said in an email Monday.
“These cases are undergoing further review to determine if they meet other CDC criteria for determination of potential breakthrough, including the absence of a positive antigen or PCR test less than 45 days prior to the post-vaccination positive test,” Sutfin said.
“In general, these persons have been more likely to be asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic compared with vaccinated persons,” she said, adding that hospitalization data were available for 117 of the cases, while 129 were incomplete.
“Of the 117 with hospitalization data entered, 11 were hospitalized, 103 were not hospitalized, and three are reported as unknown,” Sutfin said.
The three people who died were all 65 or older and two “were within three weeks of completion of vaccination,” she said.
“While the majority of the population develops full immunity within 14 days of completion of their vaccine series, a small proportion appear to take longer to mount a full antibody response. CDC is actively working to better understand the risk characteristics of this group,” she added.

So that begs a question. Is it possible that the vaccine increases the risk of death should you get covid after being vaccinated?

I’m not saying that this article should not be posted. I just know what always comes parading through the comments afterwards.
I don’t care whether one gets a vaccine or not based on their own personal risk assessment. But it is downright evil when commenters lie to people using skewed numbers to make them think that the risk of the vaccine outweighs the benefits based on anything other than their own age, sex, and health conditions.

I listened to a YouTube episode of the Bret Weinstein Darkhorse podcast where they were considering the idea that too many vaccinations actually diminishes your own body's native ability to fight infection. The vaccines can become a "crutch" of sorts.
I agree with you. The problem with Covid is similar to most of the problems we have in our public discourse today.
Any writer or pundit can cherry pick a data point or use a debatable assertion and write whatever they want. It happens on both sides of the political spectrum, but the left was particularly insidious about it when “orange man bad” and here we are.
I too think people should do as they see fit, but the lack of understanding about what the vaccine is and is not as well as the data about Covid is a mess!
I read that article carefully. The officials being interviewed were circling the wagons around the vaccine narrative before the first question was even asked.
They want to start attacking the numbers by looking at antibody count, which would indicated infection (maybe last year) prior to vaccination. This way they can extract that case from the vaccine failure stats.
At this point, nearly everyone probably has antibodies from prior infection, since most infections are not symptomatic.
Regardless, 3 deaths from 246 infections smells rather a lot like the same as it would be for unvaccinated people, and that is a conclusion that cannot be allowed.

Michigan has vaccinated 1.7 million people. So there is a reaction rate of 246/1.7 million which is .0001447 or .015% chance of getting a reaction.
Of those 3 died or .000001764 - 00017 % chance.
Your chances of getting into a car accident during a 1,000-mile trip are 1 in 366 - .0027 or .27% which is 18 TIMES higher.
These numbers are so infinitesimal as to nonexistent. If this was anything but VAX it would not even be a discussion topic.
These numbers are probably even smaller than deaths from an appendectomy which is .7%.
I come on, folks. Is this what we have come to? Cherry picking sui genre examples?

I personally know 4 people who had the Pfizer vaccine, and were diagnosed with covid later. 2 were Pfizer employees who got first dibs on the shot, and tested positive 6 weeks later, 2 developed it days after the second shot.
