You could call it the revenge of the Big Bambino; and Chris Columbus too.
In U.S. District Court this morning, City Councilman Mark Squilla joined a coalition of 47 national, state and local Italian-American groups in filing a civil rights lawsuit against Mayor Jim Kenney.
The lawsuit charges that by unilaterally dumping Columbus Day as a city holiday, and replacing it with Indigenous Peoples' Day, Mayor Kenney is guilty of discriminating against Italian-Americans, and violating the Equal Protection Clause of the U.S. Constitution.
The lawsuit further argues that the mayor's executive order to cancel Columbus Day as a city holiday was only the latest in a "long line of divisive, anti-Italian American discriminatory actions" previously undertaken by Kenney.

Ping.
I would also like to see lawsuits against the racial preferences in vaccination we are seeing. “Certain” neighborhoods being preferred or offered free etc. blatantly racist.
Had not heard of the Caribs mentioned in the article and am glad to never have met that particular tribe. If there are any left, that’s some legacy to live down.
Pennsylvania Ping!
Please ping me with articles of interest.
FReepmail me to be added to the list.
Mayor Jim Kenney went too far with his executive order. We all still celebrate Columbus Day in spite of his edict. He has once again proved he is a goofball.
God bless the Stugots
Good luck with the lawsuit.
47 groups? Sounds redundant.
Worst Philly mayor ever!
This is an excellent article. I was unaware of Columbus’ tenure in the Indes.
Glad to see someone fighting back. Rumor had it that the mob helped fill out extra ballots during the late night hours back in November. Philadelphia Italians really are not the people you want to have pissed off at you.
