A Confederate monument valued at $500,000 was stolen in March from a Selma cemetery, officials confirmed today.
This morning, a group that claims to have taken the monument, the Jefferson Davis Memorial Chair, sent emails to AL.com saying they will give the chair to the United Daughters of the Confederacy if that organization agrees to hang a banner outside its Richmond, Va. headquarters.
In those emails, a group calling itself White Lies Matter say they stole the chair from the Old Live Oak Cemetery and are demanding that the UDC hang a large banner at 1 p.m. on Friday -- the anniversary of the Confederacy’s surrender in the Civil War -- and leave it there for 24 hours.
The banner bears a quote from Assata Shakur, a Black Liberation Army activist wanted by the FBI for the 1973 murder of a New Jersey state trooper: “The rulers of this country have always considered their property more important than our lives.”
White Lies Matter said it had already delivered the banner to the UDC.
“Failure to do so will result in the monument, an ornate stone chair, immediately being turned into a toilet,” the email states. “If they do display the banner, not only will we return the chair intact, but we will clean it to boot.”

What can you see in the headers of an email? Why, the IP address of the originating computer is in the first “Received From:” line.
I’m sure if the chair was really worth $500K, the police will easily track down these losers.
Too bad we don’t have some sort of investigative bureau, who could see what cell phones were there, and to find out where the extortion letter came from. And there are plenty of Federal law violations.
Where is the FBI? The world wonders.

Don’t forget the FBi specialty - protecting murderers like Whitey Bulger for decades and making sure four innocent men spend years in prison for murders committed by Whitey. The corrupt FBI protected Whitey for decades and then when he could no longer finger the murderers in the FBI they set him up to be killed in prison.
Did anyone ever get charged for Whitey’s murder? I hear rumors the corrupt FBI enjoyed watching the security video.

My relatives fought for the North... They can take William Jefferson Davis Clinton’s chair and shove it.
So why can’t you arrest and prosecute them if they have afmitted to stealing something valued at $500,000?
Some of mine fought for their southern state, neighbors and community. Some fought for the North. I’m a descendant of both. Life/history is complicated.
All of my direct ancestors fought for the G.A.R.
But in one of my ancestral lines one branch of the family moved south and suffered horrendous casualties...something like nearly 90 out of 267 KIA.
My ancestors fought for the North. But I don’t support the communists and their attempts to erase history. And ultimately they make no real distinction between the confederacy and America itself. It all needs to be erased according to them. They just picked less popular targets first.
