Maybe the only good thing about covid hysteria is that it has, for a while, drowned out global warming hysteria. Still, many people have the impression that global temperatures have warmed alarmingly in recent decades. Unfortunately, there is no reliable record of surface temperatures for a number of reasons, including the fact that the activists who are in charge of the records keep changing them to promote the alarmist position.
But that is all right, since warming due to carbon dioxide doesn’t occur at the surface, it occurs in the atmosphere. The only reliable, unfudged record we have of global temperatures is the satellite record in the lower troposphere, which only goes back to 1979. This is the global temperature trend from then until now:
This means that “[t]he linear warming trend since January, 1979 remains at +0.14 C/decade (+0.12 C/decade over the global-averaged oceans, and +0.18 C/decade over global-averaged land).” In other words, at the warming rate that has prevailed since 1979–assuming it continues–the Earth’s average temperature would rise by one degree in 70 years.
How much of that is due to human activity, as opposed to natural variation (e.g., rebounding to normal temperatures after the Little Ice Age), no one knows.

Hasn’t warmed nearly enough for me since I’ve been transplanted to Iowa. Brrr.
About as much as the oceans have risen. Battery Park in NYC is still above water, same with St. Augustine fort, and the bouy at south tip of Key West, for several national examples. I am unaware of anything getting covered under water. The bases in Corpus Christi are still a few inches above sea level as well.

I thought the temperatures were rising faster when looking at data from the monitoring stations at US airports. Then again, the more air traffic then the more jet engine exhaust picked up by the monitors.

Considering the planet was a molten ball of rock 4 billion years ago, I would say it has cooled a lot. That said, we are in a continuing ice age.
Since when? It’s warmed a good bit since the Ice Age. Results are mixed.
Some theories are baseless. “Climate Change” is such a theory.
Time and time again I have asked a simple question, one on which the entire foolish delusion is hinged. What is the real percentage of “concentration” of CO2 in the atmosphere? I have never elicited an answer that even comes close. One person said 40 percent. One conservatively said 15 to 20%. They have no idea.
The actual percentage is between 3 and 4 hundredths of one percent. Or 0.04%. Next question, “Which is the most common and prevalent Green house gas?” Why, Dihidrogen Oxide of course. Also known as “water vapor” or H2O. It always comes as a surprise to the “Climate Gullible” as I call them.
What does this mean? It means that the “Climate Credulous” have been lied to, in a major way. If CO2 is only such a tiny measurable amount, why is a tiny increase so catastrophic? It simply isn’t.
Much greater changes in climate have occurred, long before any man made increases in CO2 beyond campfires and exhaled breath can be identified. Much greater levels of CO2 have existed, without noticeable changes in climate.
Unless the ignorant purveyors of this vast fraud are willing to drastically change their narrative, they have arrived at a scam, without a premise. Nothing new in the realm of the Con Art, which is why it should be treated as such.
I hope I made this easily understood, and explained it thoroughly, as the time it takes to read here, is way beyond the average attention span of your typical “Chicken Little Snowflake”. This explains why this has become the perennial fraud we belabor under now.
Well Algore said a while back that the center of the Earth is over a million degrees so there’s that internal warming or something.

In Florida, that 1 degree is about 50 miles further south. Oh, the humanity!
