Spin this, MSM.

Plunging into long diatribe about technical details and linguistic formatting is not persuasive.

Establishing a social norm for ownership is.

With Antifa burning down city blocks, neo-communist countries gearing up for WWIII, police being defunded, and women being at risk more than ever, surely society should normalize “of course I need an M4, why wouldn’t I?”

passing a 10-year ban on the manufacture, transfer, or possession of any “semiautomatic assault weapon”

Most guns were never banned. The manufacturers simply changed the name of the rifle, took off the flash suppressor, removed they bayonet lug (how many people were murdered by fixed bayonets since 1900?), made the folding stock permanently fixed, and limited mag capacity to 10 rounds. You could still get a 30 rd magazine “For Police Use Only” if you knew where to look.

I read an outrageous claim somewhere recently that AR “pistols” have no self-defense use. A short-barreled pistol-caliber carbine “pistol” (or, better yet, an SBR with a proper stock) might be the ideal home-defense weapon for vulnerable populations. Easy to control, easy to learn to shoot reasonably accurately, low recoil, and unlikely to over-penetrate walls with the right ammo.

Republicans really need to be more aggressive in pushing to remove silencers, SBRs, and SBSs from the NFA. Those restrictions make no sense and there is absolutely no reason we can’t defeat the Left’s messaging on it. Kevin Williamson had a good column about SBRs on National Review, recently, and even the not-exactly-right-wing guys on MythBusters did a great job on silencers.

It’s quite simple. The bad guns are the ones that:
1) are fully semi-automatic,
2) look scarier than other guns to members of teacher’s unions, or
3) are owned by white people.

Was it DiFi ( with her finger on the trigger ) say we should use scissors to defend ourselves against an active shooter.

Sorry DiFi
I will be shooting first if I see someone about to use a weapon on me

Good article, thanks for posting.

Things to watch out for are proposed language such as "ability to accept a high capacity magazine", which is, of course, everything.

And, "military style", which is, of course, everything.

And, registration, which is to make confiscation as simple as saying "Venezuela here we come".

.

You don’t understand. If the left says it, it’s true.

“The portion of the U.S. population killed in mass shootings—a rational measure of such carnage—was only 12% higher in the decade after the ban expired. This is nowhere near Feinstein’s factoid of a 183% rise in “massacres.””

It’s democrat fuzzy math.

12% = 1+8+3 or 183%

An assault rifle is a real thing, a select-fire rifle or carbine chambered for an intermediate power cartridge (i.e., 5.56 NATO or 7.62x39).

An assault weapon, OTOH, is a figment of the demoncrat's hoplophobic little brains. Its definition is fluid and changes according to whatever cosmetic feature they find offensive at that particular moment.

On top of which, every weapon ever made was made for "assaulting" so how do they justify applying the term selectively and only to certain firearms with cosmetic characteristics that they find frightening?
