Man arrested after following couple from Motel 6 and shooting at them on the interstate

Memphis, Tenn. — A Memphis man is behind bars after police said he admitted to firing shots at 2 people on a busy Memphis interstate.

Memphis Police said that just after midnight Wednesday morning 37-year-old Hurrie Gilliam sat outside of the Mote 6 on East Brooks Road and watched a man and woman leave the motel.

According to MPD, Gilliam, known to one of the victims as “Husky” followed the couple out of the Motel 6 and towards I-55.

According to an affidavit, Gilliam typed out a confession, admitting to shooting at the two people, and told police that the handgun was the same weapon used to shoot at the two people on I-55.

Makes it sound like four people were shot at.
