You’ve pretty much summed it up.

A little misleading.

Like all revolutions/major sociological and political shifts, this has been on “boil” for a very long time and just hit now. Historically, such moments come “instantly,” when in fact one can see the buildup for decades.

As a graduate student in the late 1970s, already my conservative colleagues were very concerned about losing the university. There was still a balance-—maybe then, 70-30 liberal/conservative-—but you could still hear other ideas and take other classes. No more. I recall a time at the U. of Dayton when, with the help of a private donor, we started a conservative speaker’s series. The school did nothing but provide the rooms. Our first speaker was Walter Williams, then my guy put up more and we invited Victor Davis Hanson. After that, the libs in the history department figured out that there was money to be had-—and it wasn’t their’s. They concluded that NO speaker could be brought in under the history department’s auspices without a full vote. Bye bye money.

By the early 2000s, the ratio had become 90-10. Ours was probably one of the better ratios. But by now, millions of college kids had graduated with 70-90 liberal professors in the key liberal arts courses that they were required to take.

It’s extremely important to note that while most of us conservatives, myself included, focused on the media, Hollywood, and academia, the Left was strongly moving into boardrooms, the FBI, the Pentagon, and the CIA. They have totally taken over most of those institutions, as witnessed by the lemming-like rush to condemn Georgia.

Trump didn’t stand a chance of overthrowing the election against such opposition. The generals made it clear they would support Biteme’s coup; the CIA and FBI had already done as much as they could to undermine him; and the big businesses threw in with China Joe.

Meanwhile, the drumbeat of pro-lesbian, pro-homosexual, critical-race crap on television and from Hollywood for 40 years had its effect.

If you’re looking for one single “breaking point,” I think it’s around 2007-2010 when the iPhone came out and the “iGen” began to have their own phones all the time. Now the content was streamed to them in all their news feeds.

Getting this back starts with culture. But history also has a will and a direction of its own, and always seems to find a way to correct at some point. The problem is, that point often doesn’t occur without great pain and hardship.

“ It may be an uncomfortable memory, but the conservatives of the 1950s had their own cancel culture. Buckley, for example, wrote a book defending Joe McCarthy. He seemed to approve of hauling people before congressional committees and asking them about their political beliefs. He didn’t seem to mind very much when they lost their jobs because of their politics. ”

What a croc of shit. McCarthy was right, and the communists he exposed deserved more than they got.

People talk about the 60's being a time of change. It was bombs, marches, etc.

But, nothing compares to the onslaught of 2006 to now. I see the 2004 'win' of the gop as the turning point. From there it went downhill. It's hard to have a country when millions of people have been imported and millions more have snuck in.

Enjoy the memories, of the past wonderful country.

Quickly?! The various ADL’s have been trying to get people to stop supporting offenders for 30 or 40 years. The only way this has been quick is if you have been paying zero attention. Which is kinda their point.

Not fearmongering. Statement of fact. They’re going to try and dominate every aspect of our lives if not stopped.

I think what we are looking at is the beginnings of an end if we don’t plug the holes quickly. We can survive as a largely Christian nation, but it is doubtful that there is any -ism that can successfully act as a governing philosophy. Communism turns to strong man leaders, Putin, Xi, Castro, Chavez, in our time. We had Libertarianism which is globalism and which has failed. We now have an ascendant Wokeism, which will also fail because if for no other reason than people are going to get sick of the moving goalposts and will eventually metaphorically stick them where the sun doesn’t shine on woke tyrants. We just need a stable government and culture that lets people run businesses and raise the next generation in peace. That is the very basic thing we need not to fail and end up in a dictatorship.

Separation of Church and state, with pragmatism weighing heavily on the state side is probably our best shot. Religion isn’t something that everyone wants to buy into, and its prone to fads like “how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.” Being practical and willing to say “who cares, and what has that to do with the price of eggs?” saves us from the stupider excesses while Christianity gives us a common culture.

It doesn't help that the GOP is a complete and utter joke. It will only get worse if we depend on them to get things done.

Our nations “leaders” have long been spineless crap-weasels. They talk big, and they have their own special rules for themselves.
All it took was a little effort from the left and the rest of them bent over like a 2-dollar hooker.

Other than not attending the January 6 rally, you and I track the same. My ESG score is probably -24.

It didn’t.

It’s just an expansion of the same left-wing crap that started in the 1960’s and spread exponentially in the years since.

Also, the young “protestors” and agitators in the 1960’s are now in positions of power....senators, congressmen, governors, federal and state agencies, large corporations, the media, etc.
