Labour peer Baroness Shami Chakrabarti, a member of a cross-party group of politicians warning against introducing vaccine passports, has called their possible use a “tool of discrimination, oppression and bullying”.
The former shadow attorney general told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: “It’s dangerous, it’s discriminatory, it’s counter-productive.
“It seems to me, and many others, that on the one hand, if this level of intrusion into our lives were to be proportionate, then probably it’s not safe to open up the economy.
“On the other hand, if it is safe to open up the economy, to come out of this lockdown and this crisis that we have been living under, if it is safe to do that, why create this tool of discrimination, oppression and bullying?”

Baroness Chakrabarti said that engaging in local community life was a “fundamental right” when arguing against introducing vaccine passports.
She said “It’s counter-productive because we have got one of the highest confidence levels in vaccine uptake.
“History demonstrates, even in Britain, that when you inject an element of compulsion into public health measures, such as vaccination or symptomatic testing, you actually encourage resistance and scepticism amongst the population.
“It’s one thing to have a passport to travel internationally, that is a privilege, even a luxury, but participating in local community life is a fundamental right.”
Ah, somebody gets it! We should be aware of what happens to Baroness Shami Chakrabarti, as the expected outcome will be a “Cancel Cultur” drive to de-platform, and even destroy anyone with authority and an audience that resists the move to the “Vax Passport”, as a tool of the authoritarian state. I hope she is prepared for the coming firestorm, and like minded people come together to support her, as this is the kind of push back that must happen here.
Heck, there are some folks this one this very forum who think that the Vax passport isn’t so bad. I do agree that there needs to be push back on this idea.
Blind hog, acorn.
It is.
He got that right!
