Apple CEO Tim Cook criticized Georgia's new voting law in an interview with Axios published on Thursday, joining a growing number of CEOs who have condemned the new measure, which is seen as making it more difficult for Black people and other minority groups to vote.
"The right to vote is fundamental in a democracy. American history is the story of expanding the right to vote to all citizens, and Black people, in particular, have had to march, struggle and even give their lives for more than a century to defend that right," Cook told Axios.
The Georgia voting legislation was signed by Gov. Brian Kemp (R) last week. The laws limit the use of ballot drop boxes, create new voter ID requirements and prohibit people other than poll workers from giving food and drink to voters standing in line at polls.
Democratic lawmakers have accused the GOP-backed bill of being a direct reaction to the recent Democratic victories in Georgia during the 2020 elections.
Kemp and Republicans have said the effort is to make sure voting is done legally, and that people have identification to vote. They have criticized the media coverage as biased and unfair.
Political pressure has mounted on businesses in Georgia such as Coca-Cola and Delta, which both criticized the law this week.
"Let me be crystal clear and unequivocal, this legislation is unacceptable, it is a step backward and it does not promote principles we have stood for in Georgia, around broad access to voting, around voter convenience, about ensuring election integrity, and this is frankly just a step backwards," Coca-Cola CEO James Quincey said.
Major League Baseball is hearing calls to move this summer's All-Star Game from Atlanta.
"Apple believes that, thanks in part to the power of technology, it ought to be easier than ever for every eligible citizen to exercise their right to vote," Cook added. "We support efforts to ensure that our democracy’s future is more hopeful and inclusive than its past."
I wonder if they get to vote in his Chinese slave factories?
F’ing idiots.
If anyone asked the clowns what is changing, they probably wouldn’t know...nor would they know what it is changing from.
Pretty nuts that anyone can vote but you will only be able to participate in commerce, like buying and selling anything, with a virus passport.
Homosexuals do not have kids. They do not care about what happens to the nation. It lets him use slave labor. It lets him trash America. I think it’s because they look at normal Americans and bitterly resent us.
Maybe he should just mail Mac laptops to everyone.
“Easier than ever....”
Tim Crook.
Time for Georgia to open up investigations into Apple’s trade practices and supporting slave labor.
No actually it shouldn’t be easier, voting should be done by people who have studied the issues. It is not a team sport.
So why does Governor Newsom want signature checks for the millions who want to recall him? Does he have evidence of fraud? Its just too bad Democrats never have to live on their own sewage, like they force the rest of us.
I don’t own any Apple stock, but I think I should be able to vote in their shareholding meetings.
Maybe not so easy that the dead can do it, though.
Let’s just avoid all the needless complexity of voting. How about whenever a baby is born, that kid’s ballots for every election during his or her lifetime is filled out “D” for them. The voting registrar will submit them for the person at every election.
Think how easy “voting” would be then.
So, we can put you down for “Supports election fraud”, eh, Timmy? Since you support one fraud, perhaps you’ll be cool with some theft of Apple products from stores.
BULL Squeeze. Why should it be easy? Who ever said it should be easy? What's the point of making it easy other than to enable Dem cheating.
Voting ought to be hard. That shows you have made some effort to learn about the issues and get yourself to the polls at the appointed time and place to exercise your franchise.
Libs tell us to think globally. They also tell us that everyone should make a living wage.
Are they concerned about the SLAVE LABOR being used to make their tech products? Is Timmy Cook concerned about SLAVE LABOR conditions?
Apple should not be allowed to own SLAVES. They need to make sure everyone making their products are receiving a living wage (I think a $15 minimum wage sounds appropriate.). These hypocrites need to put up.
If companies like Apple don’t pay the equal of what democrats are requesting for USA workers, our government should have a TARIFF equal to what it would be if they had to pay the equivalent of $15 per hour for their foreign labor.
Either Apple pay their Chinese SLAVES $15 per hour or our government should assess them for what they should be paying. This could help protect American jobs too.
Tim Cook and all those CEOs using cheap foreign SLAVE LABOR are all hypocrites. Also, if they really thought globally and cared for workers, they would demand that those making their products have a safe and environmentally sound environment. Let’s not require it for just USA manufacturers. Let’s think globally as those hypocrites like to tell us.
Voting hasn’t been very hard for a long, long time.
One of the Big Tech companies that absolutely love putting Americans out of work in favor of Indians and Communist Chinese.
“Fraud ought to be easier than ever”.
Was going to buy a Mac. Nope
