Biden Singles Out Amazon for Not Paying Federal Taxes

President Joe Biden on Wednesday singled out Amazon.com Inc for not paying federal taxes during his address in Pittsburgh, as he spoke about raising the burden of taxes on multinational companies and hiking the corporate tax rate.

...

Biden said Amazon was one of 91 Fortune 500 companies that "use various loopholes where they pay not a single solitary penny in federal income tax," in sharp contrast to middle class families paying over 20% tax rates.

"I don't want to punish them but that's just wrong," he said.

To: I want the USA back

The day homeschooling, turning felons loose in their communities to pillage again, higher utility bills, and restricted freedom of association, became top priorities in democrat circles in their demands, sure does flip the world on its head.

The loopholes are all bought and paid for in exchange for political contributions and support. That’s why they exist.

I bet Amazon pays LOADS of payroll taxes on all of the 1.2 full time and temporary workers they employ.

All the tech savvy algorithms in the world can't pick, pack, sort, and ship goods successfully. They have failed miserably at it. Somewhere about a 30% error rate as of last month.

I would prefer not to use Amazon or Costco because of their leadership's leftist orientation, but they both provide so much convenience and value that they are difficult for me not to use. The alternatives are typically not that much better from a political standpoint.

But what you have said sounds like it came from an alternative universe. I have used Amazon from the time when they were selling only books and have been a Prime member since 2005. In all that time I do not recall receiving 1 erroneous order. I have returned dozens of items over the years for free and without hassles because they were not what I expected, the didn't work or were broken, or they were not as described. But I would not describe what I received as "erronious". I have no idea how you could come up with your “30% error rate as of last month” statement. It is obvious nonsense.

Of course.
That Senator Warren character recently sent out a nasty tweet blaming lobbyists for writing bad laws.
Even though writing laws is supposed to be her job.

Hunter Biden did not declare his foreign income. The income is hidden on the balance sheets of multiple corporate entities that reside off shore.

Amazon has losses that are charged off against current profits. The loss Carry forward is good for 15 years

Everybody should have a little corporation

Funny, Biden’s comments come directly on the heels of the Washington Post being critical of him......

I agree with you. Amazon is a company I hate doing business with but they do deliver stuff fast and cheap.

I think the other poster was referring to a 30% error rate on automated pick & pack processes, not human error. Though it does seem to be a bit too high. If it was only 70% effective it would have never been deployed.

Still, Elon Musk still assembles cars by hand. So the technology may be close but not there yet it seems. Or just cheaper and easier to scale human labor than it is to scale and test automation.

“And the laws were passed by members of Congress such as Joe Biden over the years.”

Only Democrats are allowed to virtue signal by getting angry about their own failures.

Only Democrats possess the contorted logic to argue their failures are reasons to entrust them with more control.

R&D tax credit could save them 100s of millions I imagine.
Tax code has winners and losers. Always has and always will.

Get rid of all taxes and institute ONLY transaction and consumption TAXes. That will make it impossible for Amazon and other big corporations to pass the tax burden to the middle class.

The tax money paid by all 575k+ of Amazon’s employees comes from Amazon

I guess poor old Slow Joe just didn’t have enough time to do anything about the tax laws and COMPLETELY LEGAL “loopholes” during his 47 years in Congress and VP.

I HATE that pejorative “loopholes.” Companies have a fiduciary responsibility to shareholders to maximize profits which means minimizing expenses. The single biggest cost to most businesses is TAXES.

This cracks me up. Bezos, Zuckerberg, et al get him elected and he turns on them a few months later. Leftists eating fellow leftists for lunch.

I’m one of the first Prime customers and an Amazon customer from the days they only sold books. I’ve placed hundreds (maybe thousands) of orders and not once have they sent me an incorrect order.

The worst part of their service is failure to police their merchants who are selling fraudulent or counterfeit goods. It certainly isn’t in order processing and delivery.

Unlike others, they pay little or no taxes to state & local governments, use our Postal System as their Delivery Boy (causing tremendous loss to the U.S.), and are putting many thousands of retailers out of business!” Trump wrote on Twitter

See, Trump Supporting State and Local Governments, supporting Local Brick and Mortar Retailers and specifically supporting the US Post Office is significantly different than Xiden's proposed confiscation of massive Revenue for the Exclusively Federal Government Controlled IRS Socialist, Globalist, Anti American, Foreign Support Slush Fund.

The groveling that Amazon, Facebook, Instagram, Google and Twitter do to the Left will not save them - they are despised by the Left as well as the Right.

Not at all, Trump has always hated Amazon for not paying their fair share on all taxes.

'The @washingtonpost loses money (a deduction) and gives owner @JeffBezos power to screw public on low taxation of @Amazon! Big tax shelter"

"If @amazon ever had to pay fair taxes, its stock would crash and it would crumble like a paper bag. The @washingtonpost scam is saving it!"
