My company just announced that getting the vaccine was a condition of employment. Everyone is to return to the office next week, with either a vaccine record, or appointment to get them to turn into HR. I expect this will become widespread.

Federal law says that is a no go. Ask them if they are covering adverse reactions under workers compensation (and get this in writing). If they say no tell them to get bent and threaten legal action.
I don’t want people to “feel safe”, I want them to wake up from this mass hypnosis. But they never do.
In a Repub county, with a Repub governor, in a county where the masks are not enforced, I’m still one of a very tiny handful not wearing a mask at the grocery store. Its depressing. Sometimes I think the numbers are growing, but no, not really. I don’t know what its going to take for people to snap out of it. I thought, when they told people that they’d still have to follow all the guidelines *after* taking the vaccine that they’d get a clue, but so far, I see no visible rebellion on the horizon.
Meanwhile, as you say, thank God for DeSantis.
Yet, they do not require you to obtain a vaccination for diseases that are more deadly, and more communicable than COVID-19. Funny, that.

The problem is many big corporate retailers require it because, in addition to being hand in glove with fedgov, they are afraid of lawsuits. It sounds like you’re talking about Publix. My wife went in without a mask. She was accosted and told the jerk, “Well, we were six feet apart until you walked over here to hassle me.”
I predict a large black market for fake vaccine certificates.

The EEOC issued guidance in December that a mandate would not violate the ADA. I also live in CA, with a very high paid managerial role, and am not about to rock the boat. I got jab 1, and get the 2nd next week. I travel frequently, and expect this will be a requirement to fly before summer.
Time to contact a lawyer.
