Sen. Mitt Romney was named to receive the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award Friday for being the only Republican who voted to convict former President Donald Trump in his first impeachment trial.
“The award was created by the family of the late president to honor public figures who risk their careers by embracing unpopular positions for the greater good, and is named after Kennedy’s 1957 Pulitzer Prize-winning book, ‘Profiles in Courage,'” NBC 5 reported.
The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum’s website said Romney’s “courageous stand was historic.”
“Senator Romney’s commitment to our Constitution makes him a worthy successor to the Senators who inspired my father to write Profiles in Courage,” former Ambassador Caroline Kennedy commented.
“He reminds us that our Democracy depends on the courage, conscience, and character of our elected officials,” she continued.
Kennedy and her son, Jack Schlossberg, will present the award during a virtual ceremony in May.
In a tweet Friday morning, Romney said he was “humbled” by the recognition:
In February, hundreds signed an online petition criticizing Romney and state GOP leaders for not censuring the lawmaker over his vote to convict Trump, Breitbart News reported:
“Senator Willard Mitt Romney has failed, and continues to fail, to represent the average conservative Utah Republican voter,” the petition states, declaring that the Utah senator has “misrepresented himself as a Republican” and concluding that he has “prioritized his personal and political vendetta against President Donald J. Trump ahead of the Constitution of the United States, the interest of We, the People, and the advancement of the Republican Platform.”
The petition brought up Romney’s past conduct, identifying him as the only GOP senator to join Democrats in voting to convict Trump on one of the articles of impeachment during the Democrats’ failed impeachment attempt last year. It also criticized Romney for supporting the continuation of the “unconstitutional” impeachment trial of Trump by voting to allow witnesses.
So would MLK be sickened by the Dem party and what they have done to black community SCREAMING they are all victims and doing nothing to improve them and their communities!!!
The Uniparty loves to keep their propaganda front going.
By any means necessary.
Well, OK, being the only commander of a PT boat to have his boat run over by a Japanese destroyer, but other than that, what?
John Kennedy was dating a (married) woman during those days of WWII (so the story goes). A foreign journalist (at one time) who was photographed at the 1936 Olympics alongside ..... yes, Adolph Hitler.
As the story goes (IIRC) JFK’s commander found out about it, had him transferred to PT boats.
At least, I thought that’s how I read it here (at FR). Perhaps others will chime in. I believe that’s how I read it here but hopefully someone will make corrections as necessary. If this is substantially-incorrect, I’ll ask for my post to be deleted.
As an aside, I watched “PT 109” (the movie) as a kid. Enjoyed it.
Oh God. What a farce
Mittens! A Profile In Liberal Cowsh*t.
Are they going to have the presentation ceremony in Dallas?
According to an older cousin of mine Japanese destroyers could run down a fully loaded PT boat. (He ought to know...he was a gunner on one in the South Pacific!)
Poster boy for the descending GOP
JFK was killed for trying to take down the deep state....
By the deep state.
Yes. He would appreciate Trump trying to avenge him and finish the job.
yeah and the magic negro was given a nobel peace prize for being a black guy with zero accomplishments.,
These woke platforms are only destroying any trust and credibility we have in them.

The “Kennedy Profile in Courage” award. Isn’t that the same one Ted Kennedy was awarded for his behavior after he killed his one-night-stand ‘girlfriend’. Mitt must be really proud.
