There was an article here earlier in the week, that the CDC quietly issued new guidelines for listing the manner of death sometime in March or May 2020 in two publications; one for doctors and one for coroners. The change basically said if covid is present or even suspected, to list it on the death certificate and count it as a covid death.
At the time of the study of how the change in the regulations altered the numbers (I think through the end of summer 2020) using the new metric there were almost 200,000 deaths but if they had used the previous metric in the handbook used for 15 years prior, the total deaths by covid would have been around 7,000.
I’d have to dig up the story to get specific details for you but I’m sure you can find it. I think it was in Epoch Times. Now I can’t say for sure what’s what. Covid infection probably did contribute to underlying conditions that caused deaths but I think the main point is if someone is elderly and gets the flu and dies of a heart attack from stress of the flu it isn’t usually counted as a flu death but cardiac arrest.
I suppose it depends on what the starting point is. Going from zero hospitalizations to one is an infinite percentage increase.
As you state, these age ranges largely don’t require hospitalizations, so it’s probably just that they went from 2 to 10 - or similar. The playing with words around percentages is just fear mongering.

I disagree; both sides have points that need to be considered by a thinking person. As I said above, I have a middle-aged coworker with underlying conditions who was critical with the virus. I also believe that the long-term effects of the experimental mRNA vaccines are unknown and may have the potential to cause life-altering issues in the future.
As for myself at 78 years of age and still in reasonably good health, I made a decision to get the one-jab J&J vaccine. I heard about a local independent pharmacy that would give shots to anyone of any age who requested one, no questions asked about priority, as long as they were registered with the state (and if not, they would do it for you). I walked in Monday and was asked which vaccine I wanted (Moderna and J&J available), got an appointment for Tuesday morning and got the shot. It's all about informed people making informed decisions after reviewing the available information, whether they accept all that is presented or not.
Could have risen from 1 to 8, but 800% sounds more ominous.
Hospitalizations are probably the best measure you can get. It’s severe enough to matter, plus the criteria for admission (after disposition in the ED) is relatively standard.
Let’s hope they’re not counting people entering the ED for hangnails then leaving from there. But wouldn’t be a surprise.

Guess what? The two bars, percent of population and COVID cases, virtually match each other.
Large college age population (including grad school) the highest population percentage AND the highest COVID percentage.
Low elderly population, the lowest population percentage AND the lowest COVID percentage.
So, our COVID cases match the population percentages across the board!

The problem I have is when people spread lies. For example: that the vaccines contain microchips to control your thoughts, or the vaccines alter your DNA, or the vaccines contain alien DNA, or the vaccines sterilize you, or the vaccines don’t protect you against COVID-19, or they weren’t tested. These are lies intended to spread fear. The purpose of spreading fear is to make people change their decisions from an informed, reasoned choice to one based on fear. It’s the antithesis of free choice.
You’re absolutely right that we have no data at this point on what things look like 5 or 10 years down the road. We also have no indication or reason to believe that there are any problems 5 or 10 years down the road. All the components of the mRNA vaccines break down naturally within a week (the mRNA itself has a half-life of 10 hours). We have data from over a year of clinical trials. The first Phase 1 clinical trial participants were dosed on March 16th 2020. Between the Phase 1, Phase 2, and Phase 3 clinical trials in just the US and the UK, we have data from well over 100,000 people demonstrating that the vaccines available in the US today are safe and effective. And we have data from millions of people in Israel who’ve been vaccinated demonstrating that the vaccines prevent COVID-19 infection and transmission.
Now if after all that you look at everything and say “I just don’t feel comfortable getting any of these vaccines” or “just not certain ones”, then 100% don’t do it. We should each make the best decision for ourselves. But if you look at all that and say “THESE AREN’T VACCINES! THEY’RE ALIEN DNA WITH BILL GATES MICROCHIPS TO MAKE YOU STERILE AND TURN YOU INTO A ZOMBIE AND STEAL YOUR SOUL!” then you’re a fearmongering liar using fear to take peoples’ choice away from them. I support people making informed decisions for themselves, which is why I oppose fearmongering and lying.

Our little California county is seeing an uptick in younger people with the Covid 19 virus.
We old goats from age 65 up, are still having a higher fatality rate.
I guess, we need to add Zinc to our Vitamin D and Veterinary drugs and still avoiding 5G and Bill Gates! My wife and I are getting more sunlight with the DST.

That doesn't make any sense; of course they can both be lying. The disease isn't as deadly and severe as the Democrats would like you to believe. It's not the plague that ends humanity. If we allowed it to spread uncontrollably, we'd be looking at ~2 million Americans dead. That's terrible, but it's not the end of society. It's not even 1% of the population.
And the anti-vaxxer side of things is making absurd claims like the vaccines contain alien DNA and Bill Gates mind control microchips. So yes, both sides are lying. They're lying to drive fear into peoples' hearts to make them change their decisions through panic.

There's no cause for fear, but there is cause for taking it seriously and taking reasonable steps to reduce transmission and eliminate the virus. Sweden's guidelines for safely operating businesses were great. President Trump's vaccines are great. Monoclonal antibody therapy is great for those who become seriously ill from infection because they either haven't been vaccinated yet or choose not to get vaccinated. There's a whole world in between the extremes of completely shutting down the economy and completely ignoring the fact that there's a disease spreading that's killing people. Operate businesses safely to reduce transmission, offer people simple actionable advice for keeping themselves safe, and work to stamp out the virus through inoculation.
Funny how President Trump has been out of office for just over two months and already there are so many jumping at the opportunity to turn against him. Seeing a lot of people I wouldn't want to share a foxhole with.
