“ Register illegal aliens for the draft.”
**************

We could use the French Foreign Legion model. Don’t know what today’s rules are. But, originally French citizens were not allowed to join (enlist) into the enlisted ranks. Anyway, the Legion accepted all sorts of criminals and misfits and gave them a new name and ID. Then, sent them off to fight France’s dirty little colonial wars that French citizens didn’t want to fight.
Maybe, after ten years if they survived and had a clean record we would give them citizenship...

ERA is a pipe dream to the female dems. They were unable to get it passed on the original deadline, and they are too stupid to realize that they just can't pick up from the last number of states and add the ones they need. It has been declared null and void by the courts.

They are doing the next best thing however and that is to work on each point on their list and shove each one down out throats.

WOMEN NO MORE BELONG IN COMBAT - THE ULTIMATE MIXED MARTIAL ARTS SPORTS - THAN TMALE TRANSGENDER FREAKS BELONG IN FEMALE SPORTS COMPETITIONS.

You clearly haven't served in the military. I have.

There are plenty of jobs that women can do that do not involve direct combat, and in a crisis women could be DRAFTED to perform these jobs which frees up MEN for combat roles.

Women want equal rights? Make it mandatory for them to register for the draft.

There are no men. Every person over 18 is eligible for the draft

On June 29, 1963, (My 18th. B/day) I told my recruiter that I wanted to enlist, he scheduled my physical and induction day for July 8, 1963. I asked him if I should sign up for the draft and he said, “don’t bother, you’re going active duty for 4 years”.

4 years later on July 7, 1967, I was honorably discharged. Before the end of July, I received my draft notice.

I went to the county draft board and gave them an ear full. For 4 years they did not know I was active duty and didn’t bother me with this B.S.? The minute I am discharged they draft me and threaten me with prison if I don’t show up?

They could not or would not explain but they did rescind the draft notice.

I don’t know about that. They haven’t tried to extend the deadline until now. The Supreme Court hasn’t ruled on that yet. And my recollection is that they needed only one more state. I think it could happen.

If they re-institute the draft, the first thing they need to do is eliminate the 2-S exemption for folks post high school.

Better than the draft would be Universal Service. 10 months in the military or 2 years in a labor battalion. Room, board, and necessities and a very small stipend. Full pay and benefits for those who opt for a 2 year hitch - and serve it.

No.

Women in a national emergency best are used to raise the next generation of warriors and to support their men who are potentially dying to protect them.

Get over the feminzi crap.

How are pregnant uniformed personnel useful? Not at all. Key. So you dilute your manpower one for one.

That said, my former USAF daughter deployed to SWA and did her job. A FOBBIT for certain though.

The question wasn’t women in combat. It was should women be part of selective service system.

Since we will never likely draft again, it is a mostly pointless issue meant to simply stir the pot.

The argument might serve a purpose if applied correctly. If women want ‘equality, then they should have to register. That should be a separate issue from combat readiness and woman in combat. Women are NOT equal to men in the physical sense, and if we want the.best combat soldiers, we should have strict physical requirements on that. Given that, one could also usefully argue that ERA is based on a false premise and the sexes would both be happier if they cherished the different but complimentary qualities that make us better together.

But of course that assumes only two sexes/genders....

Then end Selective Service registration. Or compel ALL 18 year olds to register.

Period.

The dems keep dragging it out hoping that they can magically make it happen.

It was not the Supreme Court that decided on it, or needed to.

I wonder how many illegal male immigrants register for the draft as they required by law.

The question wasn’t women in combat.

The stated reason women did not have to register for a draft is because they were not allowed to have a combat MOS. Since they are now allow to go into combat they sure be subject to a draft too. I would prefer go back to the old days where women were not allowed into (ground) combat.

We were discussing the same question back in the 60s.

To clarify, XX in the draft, not those XY identifying as broccoli.

No.

Why, throughout history, have societies always made men in arms a priority and women in arms only if an absolute necessity? Men can’t get pregnant.

Protecting a society is about giving it a future and without babies you have no future and you have no babies if the women are killed. Pushing women into areas of protection, instead of enlisting them in the troops, is about protecting the future of the people being defended.

Should women be drafted no.

Under what conditions would I change that position? If I were part of a state like Israel.

EVERY war with Israel is about their physical survival. Every war with Israel is about an existential threat from opponents that want Israel to not exist. Its like defending a fort with success possibly requiring every available hand, regardless of sex. When and if the U.S. was in such a position, I might change my mind on the draft including women.

As long as the Supreme Court has not ruled the Dems will consider the matter undecided. What killed the era in the first place was that people did not want their daughters to be drafted. That really is the only aspect where there is still inequality between men and women. But the last time we were in the Vietnam war. Now we have a volunteer military. I don’t know if that fear will be enough to defeat it this time.

What is “men?” Using their rules, there is no way to prove any individual is a man.

Rostker v. Goldberg, 453 U.S. 57 (1981)

If the choice is up to congress, as this decision says, then the choice is not up to the constitution. Congress can include women, or exclude women. Either way is a political policy.
